If The Roar in Downtown West doesn't spawn, like there is not a person anywhere in his assigned area so I can't kill anyone to trigger it, do I just relog and hope that resets it so I can try again later? I've never had a Subzone Bounty Boss screw up like this.

Discovery raids are worse than normal raids for multiple reasons. One being they have different mechanics

There is no benefit to doing discovery raids

Heartbreaker gives pulse on headshot. Hits on pulsed enemies give stacks. These stacks give 1% weapon damage and 1% bonus armor

99% of the different variants of a weapon are just the same thing with cosmetic skin change. There are a few exceptions were a variant has higher dps, and 1or 2 with lower (all noted on the spreadsheet)

Several enemies are connected to one enemy that is the guardian. If you kill the guardian then you can kill all the other enemies. I assume you know that already and want to know how to tell the difference. The answer: I don’t have enough experience with this ge to answer that. Only had it active for like half a mission before I decided the rewards weren’t worth the trouble

the guardian with the yellow icon above him will provide immunity to all the linked gaurded with the red crossed out icon enemies, if you kill the guardians linked to the gaurded it will drop the immunity,
every time you kill a guardian you get the buff and a full heal, while you have the buff you can kill gaurded even if there is another guardian
there are also other options, if you emp a guardian it drops the link and you can kill all, also you can melee a gaurded enemy to drop that specific enemies gaurd and letting you kill them

the buff is pretty strong and the knowledge that you will be healed can be used tactically, as you can rush the gaurdian and give up some armour to get that kill and you will be healed, also the buff is groupwide as soon as any guardian dies, meaning more than most GEs its worthwhile to be in a group in this GE

Core attributes are skill tiers weapon damage and armor. You’re thinking of attributes which can have crit

Similar things and similar names but they are different

So if you want weapon damage instead of armor on your hb you have to put it on. Problem with that is you also need that hb piece to be rolled with crit since you can only recal once

I don’t believe the game goes very deep into builds but this is coming from an experienced player who experimented with builds during 1-30. Most builds already have a standard set (the pinned spreadsheet in #td2-build-advice ) meaning the hardest thing is creating one by yourself with no references and finding pieces that all have synergy with each other. All the talents, attributes, weapons, brand/gear bonuses, and specialization all have to work towards a central goal. That may be a crit dps build or a skill dps build or a hybrid of crit and skill dps

Keep the best one and deconstruct 2 for exotic components. Then use the reconfiguration blueprint to roll the last one. Eventually it will surpass the best one. And just keep playing, a better one might drop, or you can optimize the lower attributes on the good one. Hope that makes sense.

its 30 WD at its peak, additive to the rest of your builds WD, so it depends on the build how much dmg increase you get

you can calculate it by taking your WD (weapon dmg, and specific weapon dmg) adding them together and adding 100(as the base), and doing the same for the increased value.
then its the increases value divided by your base value,
so lets say you have 110 combined WD and SWD, and the cath adds 30 for 140 total WD+SWD, its 240/210 for actual increase of 1.142, so the new number is 14.2% increase over the old one, and thats what the cath would add for that set of numbers

You can optimize attributes but will be more expensive more you put in. From minor to the max cap. Personally recommended getting a almost perfect roll, to throw resources in less . Unless it’s a perfect roll for you.

I'd say it generally would be worth it since it gives you a lot more caches and cosmetics on top of that, but I'm biased because I got it myself and have no regrets. The ultimate decision is up to you.

you have to find a balance between what is worth optimising and what is better to go farm for, as its way to expensive to try to optimise everything when you are newer, as a general tip, save your optimisation for good chests and backpacks that are already close, those two slots are regulary the hardest to farm for

if you dont want to play mostly solo, then joining a clan is a good way to go, most clans will have their own discords with information, and with a active clan you will have people to run stuff with, also if you are newer most clans members are more than willing to help you get up to speed, both by explaining things and helping you get geared up,
but join one from #td2-clan-recruitment over just a random one ingame, there is allot of old mostly dead clans if you pick one at random from ingame, instead you can be pretty sure the clans from that discord channel are still pretty active

assuming true suns tac assessments, then you also have the option of Lincoln, its 4 per heroic run, but ends up more easily farmed than bounties, as you can do lincoln pretty fast on heroic, its the only faction where its somewhat better to do lincoln as a mission over bounties, unless you do the bounty world level trick

and that trick is to farm public executions/hostage rescues on a normal difficulty till you have allot of normal and hard bounties, then if you set your world diff back to heroic, and do those bounties, the final named will drop 4 (instead of the 1 or 2 for normal and hard bounties), while the bounty is much easier because its normal/hard, meaning you go allot faster

So, figure out what build you want to play. Then figure out what the gear is for it. Each "Zone" in a map has different global gear drops, which you can check by pushing R to see Targetted loot. Everyone little subzone has a different type that rotates... daily.

I noticed something weird when running catharsis and unbreakable during the Anderson mission. I was standing on the steam area (second stage) with like 1 health HP and extremely low armor HP. The steam was supposed to kill me but instead I got back 100% shield and 100% health. Anyone know what would cause that?

TD2 is a whole different animal. Once you finish the story (which IMO is way better produced and mostly unique all the way through) then the game changes. The game gets repetitive in that you're doing the same content over and over but the focus is improving/tuning your builds to clear that content in different ways.

Okay, control points are weird on Challenging. Why are my NPCs walking off to narnia instead of capturing this place. There are no enemies within like two blocks that I can find, but they keep walking off in one direction with their guns out.

once in a while they will bug out if they fight other enemies than the control point ones before they reach the CP, best is to fasttravel away and back to them, you will have to do the defence part again which sucks, but its decently rare to happen

Watch level is a small part of a build, having a good build in the 1st place matters much much more. So for raids and legendaries and pvp you want to at least have a good build to do them (watch level helps but doesn’t matter compared to build).

a tip that might be completely unnecessary but I was oblivious to it the first couple runs, there's actually a map you can open and then you can see where's what and set your waypoints to it (instead of having it auto route you to some random objective your team might not even do, usually VIP ones are skipped)

So, after doing Countdown, do I just check what trash I picked up, then run it again. I'm trying to focus Backpacks. lol

I didn't go down though, which honestly surprised me.

Yus I think it's actually quite hard to die in CD, I've seen some builds with like PfE and/or (some) blue cores for (HC) CD but I feel like you have to go quite out of your way to die

Enemies don't seem to do much damage, unless you're like out in the open, potentially alone or quite up front, against a hunter or something

I usually go the cycle of make sure inventory is as sorted as possible (with plenty of free space) => run CD picking up everything => sort through everything after the run

Don't forget you can go in options in inventory and change sorting order, that option sometimes slips my mind, you can for example set it to sort by new so that all the new stuff you picked up is on top so you can just quickly mark as junk cycle through them (and skip whatever you'd want to keep to store/use later) and then mass delete all junk after

The thing is, on Heroic CD, you're more likely to get downed or die in the final part during extraction when hunters actively look for flanking routes and get you and the group off-guard. Still ain't out of the woods unless your group as a whole are gigachads.

I'm still quite torn between loot quality, I think quantity should be/is the same, but I've seen a lot of places mention loot is exactly same between challenging and HC CD

Now I'm not sure if I'm super lucky (only have couple tens of runs in so far, so like, around 2k items gained sample size), but for me challenging rolls seem to be...meh, average-ish, while the HC ones tend to be very near perfect usually

But if the aim is to get a kind of item that's rare to obtain (like very specific rare attribute combo) it doesn't matter

Loot is definitely not the same. It's just that the minimum rolls are lower on challenging. Still means you can get god rolls in challenging but it's a little less likely. The best way to test it is run both several times with gear mods as targeted loot. There's only one "quality bar" to pay attention to and you'll see the difference easily.

Revive hive and chem foam launcher is a really good combo for CD. Even at the very end when the hunters are disrupting you, you wait till the disrupt status is over and foam down the hunters so your DPS teammates and burn them down.

I do like my gun though. It tickles most things, but it's satisfying. I just hope to get a higher damage AR soon. A Famas or Police M4 would be fine.

sounds hell to me if the gear/brand set drops wouldn't even have a themed core attribute that's at least always the same, you're farming your red piece and keep getting random bits of armour/tier cores on it next to already having to get the attributes right

also could be easily just placebo/bias but it almost feels to me that say a red core drop that always has weapon damage also tends to trend slightly more towards red secondary attributes (but can get the others often too)

well once you've stored that attribute from any of the same type of item once (like any glove) then you can re-apply that attribute to any other glove pretty much, except for certain special attributes that are locked AFAIK on named items

storing the attribute also destroys that item but you rather quickly build up a library full of perfect rolls (I only bothered to extract stats that were perfect, if I'd extract something even just near-perfect, I'd just end up replacing it with something perfect soon after anyway - but you could opt to store near perfect-ish too if you want quicker access to them especially the most meta stats)

but then you basically can put that attribute on that type of item in the future

e.g. extract a nice high rolled / god rolled armour from some glove once, then you can get a HF piece that has a red main attribute and say CHD that you'd like as secondary, now you can reroll that main to armour

Yus once you extract a stat to your library, you can use that stat on that same % roll on that type of item on any future items

once you recalibrate one stat on an item, that's the only slot you can change (so can't recalibrate other attributes on it), but you can change it whenever

so you can also extract say 145k armour from some glove to your library, now on all future gloves you can put 145k armour in the main core (regardless of what stat they were before), and then if you later find gloves with perfect 170k armour roll and extract that, you can overwrite that calibration on that piece to a 170k armour

or you can also any time change it to any other valid stat, you could later also roll it back to say red (weapon damage) or yellow (skill tier), but once you recalibrate one stat you can't change the others so if the other attribute on it is CHD, that's locked to CHD forever on that item

if you're inside the mission area while doing this you even get kicked back out as it resets the mission

its specifically the daily bounties, the orange ones that reset every day, and if you didnt boost, you will also have 1 BT normal bounty per zone that is a one time 3 points per bounty(these are from the projects you complete by doing the invaded missions while going up WT's), if you havent done them before now, but the dailies are a good source if you do them every day

also heroic (maybe challenging aswell, been a while) CP's give 1 point as a reward per clear, also making it a good source once you have done the invasion and bounties, as you lvl and get gear along the way aswell

Guys how does targeted loot work?

it works like this, in 2 parts,
1 whenever loot drops (we call this the normal drop), there is a chance targeted loot drops alongside it, this is a %-tage that increases with difficulty and directives, so higher will give more TL along side that there is more normal loot aswell on higher difficulties due to more enemies, also some enemies guarantee TL drops, mostly named enemies and most activity completions
2 TL is set per zone or mission in openworld, and by yourself in countdown and summit, in the open world/missions there is only one TL active at a time, meaning you dont double dip when in a mission, its only the mission TL that applies then not the zone it is in. and it rotates every day at 0900 CET

This probably sounds silly, but I am having a hell of a time completing the second level of technician field research. For the life of me I can't ever seem to find two enemies close enough together and low enough health that I can take them both out with one grenade at the same time.

I've even tried Summit on normal, but still, nobody gets close enough together.

Is there an easier way to do this?

Dz landmarks a good alternative imo tho but that involves having a decent build to deal with rogues
