I mean, personally, I see the merit in Summit being that it's something else to do. having a 100-floor endurance gauntlet is an interesting challenge that you don't really get anywhere else in the game, so even if the loot isn't quite as good, if you're not optimizing for progression, it's still a good option.

i guess. some people like to solo legendary too. I find the summit to be kinda tedious and boring.. i can handle about 6 floors at a time. when it was the only way to do TL, i had more incentive though for sure.
countdown you can go in... and get SHD as well as named items and TL.. and if you want challenge, go in alone. or go duo. you still get more TL than summit and you get some currency.
but hey.. hopefully, they do have metrics. and if those metric show players doing summit beyond a f10 grind... then awesome. no need to 'fix' anything.
i was using it as an example mostly.. but in generall.. keeping content relevant and rewarding is they trick to runnign a game for a long time.

I'd love to see more of Div2's item management systems in D2, as well as its crafting. And I'd really like to see some of the narrative quality and seasonal depth of D2 coming to Div2.

the reason I'm okay with Bungie doing it is the difference between Destiny 1 and Destiny 2, and even Destiny 2 Year 1 and current Destiny 2 to an extent. Bungie isn't asking for more money for the same content; they're offering more content in exchange for more money, often with a pretty generous option to try the seasonal activities to see if you like them before you decide to purchase it. D2Y1, and D1, had massive content droughts for months at a time where there was nothing to do in the game except play the old content. And the cost of the DLCs hasn't really changed much- Witch Queen is 40 dollars, just like Rise of Iron was when it came out at the end of D1, but arguably contains more content.
At the end of the day, that's something I'm okay with a developer offering. If you want more gameplay content, you may pay more money. I'm not going to expect every developer to give me huge content updates for free, because those things cost money to make. And I will push back if I see developers offering less content, or implementing systems that are clearly designed to extract value from players instead of giving them a good experience.

Case in point, Bungie just introduced a new system for the end-of-season celebration event that's a 10 dollar cosmetic pass with a few cosmetics in it. No one likes it. Every player I've heard is telling Bungie that it's not good. And while it may take a while for them to listen (because they like to commit to their decisions until they have enough information to make better ones) I have confidence that if this system is that unpopular, they'll reverse their decision.
Like they did with sunsetting, where they continually removed guns from the game. People complained. They collected data. They removed the concept, and now we use our guns for as long as we want.
They also did it with transmog. The starting transmog system was time-locked, and the only way around it was paying money. People were vocal about their dislike. The next season, Bungie changed the system, but it was still pretty rough, so the season after that they changed it again. Now, you can get pretty much all the transmog stuff you want without paying a dime.

Allow me to revise my statement:
If reviews, footage, and all the other avenues of gaining information on a piece of media, combined with your own knowledge of your own preferences, as well as your ability to pay for things, indicate that you will not find a certain piece of media worth the amount of money and time it will require of you, then I would recommend against purchasing it unless you're willing to sacrifice that time and money as an experiment to see if you do, in fact, like that thing.
And I'm not making an industry-wide argument here. I know that doesn't apply to the whole industry. I'm applying it to Destiny specifically.
(Though on a more general note I do believe that people should really consider how much they, personally, value media before buying it... I think a lot of disgruntled people buy things without doing their research and then get mad that it's not what they expected when their expectations were based off of marketing material and hearsay instead of what's actually in the thing)

Considering the amount of people I've seen trashing The Division 1 and 2, along with how much I despised spongy enemies in Warframe, I'm surprised I still decided to buy the game
There's no substitute for personal experience, and even if the entire world says no, you can try something out and say yes quite gladly
There are things that shut my hype for a game down, such as seeing an """open world""" full of pointless quest markers and A to B quests, but at the same time I'm confident I slept on many good games that followed the formula that was ruined for me because they executed it well
Unfortunately as well, most (if not all) of the reviewers I see don't actually address minor details of a game, which is one of the things I'm all about when it comes to designing a good game
I don't think I've ever seen a single person besides me praising The Division 2 for having a one-handed menu navigation where I could do everything with my left hand, so when that was one of my complaints about Remnant, it was like I was speaking Greek at people
Death animations, punchy physics, sound design, most of these things are outright ignored by reviewers in favor of "is the game full of bugs?" and "does it have good graphics?"
One of the simplest joys I found playing the Tomb Raider reboot was not story, not graphics, not mechanics, but the shotgun and the ragdoll physics
That shotgun was legitimately the highlight of the reboot series for me above everything else, but people are concerned about Lara falling on spikes and having realistic dirt on her face or something, so I wouldn't know about the shotgun until I received the series for free on EGS and played for myself
Photo mode in Shadow, where I could pause any cutscene and have Lara do a dumb expression? Never heard people talk about it, but it's there and, while barebones, still good fun for while or after playing through game
People can't go through the detail I go through when playing games unless YouTube magically decides to recommend an obscure review channel that specifically tackles the parts I want to know about a game, which it doesn't because it's a platform only concerned about boosting content that gives them a whole family's income in views
So I rely on lackluster and/or biased systems to have a minor chance of telling me something that would be my deciding factor for playing a game, at which point I just don't really think I am to be faulted for not caring about browsing for 14 different videos on the same game just to see if one of them talks about the things I want them to talk about

Forums are often filled with trolls who, at the first sight of a question they don't understand, will still try to say anything pretentious with absolute certainty because they need to have a word, so a simple question devolves into a shitstorm. well you can just use the scorpion shotgun and use the decoy and the riot foam on the hunter though
cause those are effective on him
although when you are gonna fight him stay in a place where he won't get to you and after the hunter emp effect is gone throw the decoy somewhere where he well fire at and while he does that use the riot foam on him and fire at him with the scorpion shotgun till the magazine is empty and after that take cover and do the same thing again or after he gets back up get away from him and use the riot foam on him
