It should be noted, that very, very few Exotic are mission/boss specific. Only Ouro/Eagle/Rav/Reg/Bighorn can't drop from the loot pool once an applicable Project is done.
Something like Coyotes for example, can drop from a specific boss, but can also drop from any Exotic Cache/higher chance via TL: [Mask].

But tl;dr Countdown's loot is kinda halfway between the difficulty you have it set on, and the next tier up, due to scaling with so many possible people, we think.
So Challenging is Heroic --, Heroic is Legendary --.

if you do the toggling on the map the whole map closes i believe so you gotta open map and find the mission in question then open it again. if it doesn't have the Manhunt Icon you get to hold g over it again to change it until it does

It's not really a proper way and you need to have the ressource. You will need to create a new character make it level 30 and then complete the SHD request by giving some ressource. You will get a level 30 exotique (and hope for the mask) you will then upgrade it to level 40

Run solo or two any more the AI become harder. If you want SHD you need to complete things quick. You should be able to increases your SHD by 30 or 40 in 2 - 3 hours.

Even if you lack the proper gear initially, you still get targeted loot guaranteed from specific spots

my current "meta build" for everything (general works for all) is:
-ninjabike backpack
-red petrov obliterate vest
-3 strikers
-1 full red badger tuff
-bullet king
-rock'n'roll (or the norm aa12 with brazen)

15% handling from striker
15% handling from petrov
5% armor from badger
obliterate + strikers gamble just melts mechs and heavies with bullet king.
anything close up melts with rock'n'roll. (or the norm aa12 with brazen).

well. i like it cause just changing the vest i can quick change the build fast.
with fenris i change the shotty to SASG-12 or 870. as fenris gives me the reload speed those like.
or to swiadowska vest. +20 rifle + mag size.
etc.

so getting the 2nd brand thing from the vest is why i like it. makes it versatile and broadens the weapons that can benefit from it.

Never been a time with an xp multiplier event this high

You could very well just boost to level 30 if you don't necessarily care about the 1-30 story
