Close. 2 different AIs, both working on the same network. There is also a 3rd AI that black tusk use, it however is purely analytical and just gives information while the other two have 'personalities'.

Since these three programs are on the same network, that naturally created a back door to each of them. So when people know how to navigate the network they can infiltrate the other AI comms amd such. Hence why Birdie loosely said "ours is theirs and theirs is ours"

I'm assuming you're currently mixing up world tiers and global difficulty

There is a comprosmise. They can require you to complete a set of mission and a ceratin season level before you can bring your main into the season. As long as the amount of time and effort is reasonable I think most would think that's okay. If you can only use your main on climax missions and master missions at the end of the season, I personally, don't think that is enough to continue with TD2. Others may disagree.
