The trick is to balance speed:difficulty. I find that 6 is a sweet spot where you can just charge through. It helps if you're not focusing on skills since that gives you 1-2 for free.

Well, I dunno about that. Tried triggering a Hunter fight in the open world and got my behind kicked pretty easily, so that's my next goal to be able to kill the Hunter. My damage was pretty good and I almost took his armor out in a single mag, but he then basically one shotted me

You should work to making Challenging your base difficulty. You'll only get loot you can potentially use, since Challenging and above only drops gold/gearset/exotics.

With HB, you use one gun to build up your HB stacks, then swap and deal out pain with the other.
Like Striker.

HB and Striker are basically sister builds. The former is more tank, the latter more DPS.

why the acs-12 is recommended though, is that each pellet counts separately for stacks. So it builds ridiculously fast.
