Stick to black tusk, outcast and cleaner enemies, no helmets to worry about.
You can actually headshot hyena rushers without breaking their helmet first if you get them when they tilt their head back to take a spice hit, but it's a bit inconsistent and Determined might mess it up.

that'd happen if something else gets in focus on the same screen as the game is on (so with 2 screens, if you alt tab to something that's fully on 2nd screen, game still at least stays up, but if you drag a window even by 1 pixel into the same screen game is on, it minimises fully)

so don't have anything more helpful I'm afraid but you can likely narrow it down to anything that pops up in some way (even for a split second or activates an invisible window) on the main screen
