a few years ago the first thing i noticed when DX12 was released, is that many monitor apps like afterburner, fpscounter etc suddenly didn't work anymore. Or at least, you couldn't get the ingame overlay to display. Apparently this is still a problem in 2019 and I'm guessing that al tleast half the crashes Div2 is having are somehow still related to this problem.

I'm pretty sure ppl in here saying they have disabled all overlays, may still have some overlays they just overlooked.

So once more, for all fellow crashers in here:

When you start game and you don't get the error message that warns you about not using the uplay overlay (which you should completely ignore) then your uplay overlay is still on!!! It will make you game crash everytime a friend logs in or out. Disable it in uplay settings at all costs, you will not loose ANY gamefunctionality, unlike what the message says.

Don't change the system volume while in game, this will bring up windows volume overlay

3)Disable discord overlay

#

4)set windows action center to silent game mode

#

5)Set your antivirus to silent game mode

#

6)minimize uplay to tray after you launch game. You have time to do this while easycheat is starting. Apparently the 'Rainbow magic event message' randomly pops up if uplay is not minimalized and makes your game crash

and it also dose with the division2 with DX12 enabled.

and windows volume bar isnt an overlay which hooks into the game, running in DX12 the game never goes into exclusive fullscreen mode hence windows volume bar shows up

anyone know how to make an alert sfx go away? the sfx sounds like i didnt loot something in a mission or that the objective is nearby. It doesnt matter where I am on the map it just keeps going off. When i go into UI it disappears but then comes back when i come out of it.

and let's keep it simple, the division 2 doesn't like anything poppin up on screen, whether you call it an overlay or not

anywayzzz. With ubisoft overlay enabled and uplay open in background, my game crashes like 4 times an hour lol. Yesterday I disabled both and game didn't crash all night....

Also the crashing only got worse after last patch, before it was like 1x per night or so

@fiery ginkgo i had the same thing a few days ago but with the 'an electronic device has been detected' sound looping nonstop. Only went away by leaving my group and restarting. It started when I died while my companion was standing next to the device or something

Well I don't have an AMD, but I do have an Intel with Turbo, Quickstep and more. When measuring the voltage and all is stable but the frequency does keep changing. Which happens a lot more before I overclocked.

There is no need to defrag an SSD in the first place. Doing it would degrade performance and lifespan. However when you're talking about the pagefile you actually mean the Windows page file as in the file on the drive don't you?

Any SSD, like HDD, comes with controllers and built-in firmware they manage it in such ways that it performs optimally and keeps a longer lifespan. There is no need to be concerned about a file being written what so ever. If you're concerned about that you may as well remove your drive(s) entirely.

Has anyone encountered a bug that basically makes loadouts useless? A few days ago I got it and basically I can’t switch between any loadouts anymore . @lofty heart I think this is due to your in game settings not being applied until you're considered "logged in", which i think is when you essentially click "continue" at character select. Destiny 2 was the same.

I've been working on Chatterbox and I have all the pieces needed to collect the blueprint but every time I go back to the bank (over a 3 or 4 day period now) I'm still loot locked for getting anything out of containers or the hyena cache. I did go with some friends before I had all the pieces but we thought I might just get the recipe and get the last piece later. Is there anything that would be causing the loot lock well over a 24 hour period?

@lofty heart this happens to me when I have UPLAY overlay on and a friend logs in or out. Havent't crashed once since I disabled it in uplay settings. You'll get a warning when launching the game that you might lose some functionality but you won't. You'll only lose the crashes lol

I have an issue with a Hunter the specter one (who drops a mash with 2 cards on it) him and the ghost one needs to be killed in 1 hit, thing i do i killed the ghost in 1 hit (and it dropped me it's white mask) same for the specter but he does not drop me any mask, and it's the last mask i need to have all the 12 he do drop me a yellow random item but no masks at all, anyone know this issue or have any clue on what to do ?

@fast pelican @sleek mountain @glad flicker 1) When you start game and you don't get the error message that warns you about not using the uplay overlay (which you should completely ignore) then your uplay overlay is still on!!! It will make you game crash everytime a friend logs in or out. Disable it in uplay settings at all costs, you will not loose ANY gamefunctionality, unlike what the message says.
2) Don't change the system volume while in game, this will bring up windows volume overlay
3)Disable discord overlay
4)set windows action center to silent game mode
5)Set your antivirus to silent game mode
6)minimize uplay to tray after you launch game. You have time to do this while easycheat is starting. Apparently the 'Rainbow magic event message' randomly pops up if uplay is not minimalized and makes your game crash

anyone ever ran into this issue? first time i start up game i get over 100fps, if i stop playin then restart game my fps will stay at 60 as if v sync i on, but it isnt, i have to reboot pc to get normal fps back

it's probably a driver issue, i have similar issues like. Without changing any settings, randomly the game starts in windows modeand stuff like that. Has to do with windows desktop/aero settings i think

or check your cpu usage. open taskmanager play division2 in open world, tab out and look at the usage of your cpu in the past. i5 has no hyperthread and have a lot of problems with that cpu 100 bug.

@hot agate i3 and i7 have hyperthread, so they can minimize the bug, because the cpu can handle more threads. but they still have the bug but no issues. But People with i9 and some ryzens have the same problem like u. u are not alone 😉

also I don't think the 100% bug is real. I think it's just the first game that really efficiently uses dx12 (appart from all the crashes obviously). The whole point of dx12 over dx11 being to optimalize the cpu and gpu workload...

i'll pm you my benchresult. you'll see that the gpu is always filled to 98% load and cpu around 80-90%. This is the very max my system can deliver. So obviously if my cpu would be any slower, it would quickly become a bottleneck and it couldn't keep the gpu at 98 and you would start seeing stutter and fps drops.

One therory, like why Anthem, Division 2 and a few others havent made SLI support yet, is to force people to buy new 2080TI to make it go well on 4K.. but even a new state of the art PC with all kind a new shiny expencive things, and 2080Ti, it CANT run 60Hz at all places with ultimate+ settings.. so they SHOULD get SLI work at some point, so players like me, that want the best shinyness of the game on a 4k screen to work!

Did you use Task Manager or the tasklist command? Because in the Task Manager it dissappears but when using tasklist from the command line it still shows TheDivision2.exe 😉

Anyone else run the priority mission with a friend. In my case my brother. And then continued on to stronghold as it said we both completed the priority mission together. After the stronghold he returns to his own world/session due to me having to leave for work. It says he has to do the priority mission and the stronghold is locked. Yet when he goes to the priority mission there is no option to actually proceed through the mission

Thanks shillman what's the fix/run around for it? Have him try to change the difficulty? We started it together at the same time and he DC'd right at the end. Mission wasnt ending then as soon as he logged back on it ended. But he said it counted for him so I'm not sure

@oblique scroll I was having those issues, it was a corrupt SSD. But it could also be numerous background processes as overlays steal power and makes some games lag so try disabling Discord and Uplay overlays and turn off browsers and background apps like Twitch

Anyone seen this error before? "Easy Anti-Cheat integrity failure. You may need to reinstall your game. Unknown file version (hunter\sdf\pc\data\sdf-a-0726.sdfdata)." Yesterday while I was fighting the four Christmas tree Hunters my game crashed. When I reloaded the game I was greeted to the error. I ran Verify Files and that fixed it for me, temporarily. Later last night I tried to log into the game and was greeted with the same error with a different file name. So I reinstalled the entire game last night prior to the Tidal Basin patch, just tried to load the game, downloaded the patch, and then I get the same error again.

Its a known issue, To refill your spec for now. simple go to the whitehouse and "switch" your spec. then switch it back. instantly full ammo

there are hidden side quests. 5 of them. 1 additional mission auto appears if you're ready for Tidal Basin. The "last" SHD cache was in a mission. (you can't get back there to find it unless you get a bounty for the area or join in on someone else's playthrough)

what's odd is that the crash is always 3 minutes after the game launches, give or take a few seconds. but pretty much almost exactly 3 minutes in. doesn't matter what you're doing, be it running around and actually playing or sitting at the main screen. 3 minutes in it crashes to desktop.

In the last couple of weeks I had massive issues regarding "FPS stuttering". I don't know why it happens because no matter what I do the game will freeze randomly for 1-2 secs. It does happen "occasionally".

My specs are:

GTX 1070ti
i3-8100
16GB RAM 3200
Win10 64Bit
latest driver

I tried the following:

re-intalled TD2
closed every application in the background (even the RGB software for my keyboard/mouse)
played on the lowest setting possible (with v-sync on and off)
tried to play on Windowed, Borderless and Fullscreen
I played the game for around 15min to test/troubleshoot after I changed my settings

On a side note: After trying out the TD2 benchmark I saw that my CPU usage was sometimes over 100% (?) which was very questionable.

@mystic tulip do you have any overlays turned on. Also if you have Logitech g discord integration turned on turn that off and kill the service in task manager.

@muted python No overlays. As I stated I closed every application possible and played the game. That includes Discord or TS. I don't use Logitech.

@mystic tulip The lack of hyperthreading means that if any significant background processes are running will top the CPU off to 100%

As TD2 is multicore aware and will run threads on all four cores

I see very close to 100% CPU usage even with a hyperthreaded i7 6700k

Did you turn them down to minimum when you noticed bad performance? Because if you did, that makes the problem worse as CPU load INCREASES

Turn them up between medium and high

#

Low game settings means higher CPU utilization

medium / high game settings means you bottleneck on the GPU instead.

Sounds counterintuitive, but trust me

low game settings mean higher CPU utilization when you don't have settings like vsync or a frame limit set. otherwise, letting the game have unfettered access to push as many frames as it can will cause you to basically redline your CPU.

well, your version is a bit counterintuitive for many. you can play the game at low settings and enjoy never hitting a spot where your fps dips while also keeping it in check so it doesn't push any more than say 60fps

#

also - still unable to keep my game running for more than 3 minutes. consistently crashes at the 3 minute mark. literally nothing i've done changes it so i'm giving up until they put out an update in response to this problem.

i'm convinced it's got something to do with easyanticheat. in recent experience, games with EAC have crashing issues like this.

@viral shale Thanks for you help mate. I don't really experience game freezes anymore. There are sometimes little fps drops about 10fps but thats not a big deal. It's way better than before and the game look better xD

Anyone else getting a lot of crashes with this recent patch? I had just stopped the crashes for the most part last patch now since this patch came out the crashes came back with a vengeance.

No, it's like before: No errors when crashed and nothing in Div 2 crash log/Event Viewer.

The way I was stopping crashes before was by deleting the Shader Cache/Shader Byte Cache folders in The Division 2 directory but that isn't working anymore in this latest patch.

Try this, it worked with other people before. Go into your game folder and reinstall the VB_basic stuff, its in the installation folder, in a folder called Tools. A few people I know had weird crashes and it helped after they did that

Ye, i'm playing on DX11. Never tried DX12 before because many people are saying it's unstable due to NVIDIA's driver

currently i just bumped up the grapics which Elrabin recommended. So far no freezes which is amazing! :)

@scarlet lake AFAIK, crashes on dx12 are machine specific issues, it would be better if you get dedicated support from ubisoft support by filing a ticket

so im in World tier 5 but not getting any drops over 450, even the proficiency cache's arent dropping higher
