i'm not sure if there is i cant check that at the moment, however i only want it to be on one of my monitors not stretched across both. All my other games have no issues with this including other Uplay games like seige etc all just launch on my main screen no problems

It's still problem with your setup. Lots of graphic card drivers force it, some windows security settings etc. I'd advise you going borderless window mode while searching for answer . Windows is famous for problems with it's Fullscreen. Windowed mode even provides more stability to the games but eats more resources (just a tiny more)

They have a grand plan to kill off Xp farming

by flattening the XP curve entirely, so no one given activity will award more XP than any other

That's not an issue at all, a mission gives slightly more XP (like 733k vs convoy's 586k on heroic 4 directives) yes, but the issue is that you can do like 15 convoys in the time you do 1 mission

So if you want to equalise XP gain from sources, in this case to make it even you'd need to basically x10 how much XP a mission gives as a random example

If what you say would be the case, it'd be even more severely imbalanced, I believe there should be attention to how much XP an activity gives based on e.g. how much you can do it on average in a given time frame like an hour, because of activity X gives 100k XP and takes 10 minutes to do, and activity Y gives also 100k XP but takes 1 minute to do, of course it's not balanced at all and Y effectively gives 10x more XP

This'll be hard and pretty sure not very possible to fully balance as you'd need to fine tune XP gained from every mission (as they're different lengths) and it's hard to measure everything, like how fast you can optimise running convoys vs speedrunning missions, do you even want to balance it like that for the general public or assume that's kind of too niche to base it on etc

I think what'd be smart is to have a general pass on "okay these two activities give about the same-ish XP right now (586k vs 733k) but one takes like an order of magnitude less time to do, let's have a generic balance pass so most things are at least in the same order of magnitude-ish
And speedrunners and people who do things insanely fast will likely still find some imbalance and one method might be the best when done optimally, but at least things are fairly close especially for just regular casual gameplay
I think that'd be ideal
No point in minmaxing the balance on it too much, too many variables and work

I think that'd depart a lot from their current gameplay vision (whether it's intended or not) where the game respects your time immensely and unlike many looter/MMO games with many similar mechanics of obtaining XP and loot, there's not a lot locked behind time gated progression
There's some amount of things that are on daily and weekly resets, but so much you can just do by...playing more

And you'd still have the issue then that you might just do one type of activity that takes 30 mins to max your daily XP out vs other activities that'd take hours
I think a good general overview look to bring things close to each other timing wise is a good way to do it, as it stands right now there seems to be little to no regard in XP gained vs how long it can take, + unintended effects even like convoys giving double XP

I'd heavily suggest not mentioning that your game didn't crash
It'll grow self aware and realise its mistake
I once mentioned how I was fine for weeks and then without changing anything it crashed like a madman for the next week or two

Like us linux hackers have been battling with the EAC code for a long time so that games with EAC will run on linux systems.

I think Div2 has more issues and there's more causes for crashes in many ways, but I'm very sure that EAC also plays a role
It's common for other games using EAC to also have issues with stutters/performance, crashes, stability in general, and it's funny that whenever you're able to launch the game without EAC active (like for offline/SP games like Elden Ring), all of those issues are entirely gone
And confining EAC's affinity (whether it's to one thread/core, to a specific core, to anything but a specific core like in ER) is often (partially) a fix to at least some of those issues too universally

There were also cases for Div2 for example where someone stopped having crashes when using Win7 (and even some cases with Linux) because EAC at some point just straight up couldn't load as it was unsupported but somehow the game still ran

But there's plenty of other issues with the game that cause crashing that aren't typical of EAC stability issues and also how it's even crashing on some people's consoles (even if it happens less frequently)

Hi, does anyone know about a bug on the Scorpio?
I have noticed that not every shot is registered with the Scorpio.
In the shooting range I could see that when focusing on the enemy board, the round target circle of the Scorpio changes
from first RED (enemy focused) to WHITE (enemy not focused) and then again to RED (enemy focused).
The change takes place in a relatively short period of 1 to 2 seconds at the beginning of the focus and occurs only sporadically.
But still often enough. If you release the shot just at that moment when the focus has changed from RED to WHITE (not focused, but I am still in focus),
it will not be registered! So the shot goes into NOWHERE. No counting nothing!
It has happened to me very often that I have shot at the enemy, but he did not show any hit. And that's annoying.

I made a video recording of this behavior and it is also detectable.
I would be interested to know if this is a BUG or a feature.

I think the issue as of this season is that it now states that it needs a replica, but even if you have a replica it won't allow you to craft it, yet it also doesn't work with a non-replica version

That affinity thing actually seems to working well, as long as I wait till the character has loaded before I alter it. Not crashed "yet" 🥳

Load up the character. Press Ctrl+Shift+Escape to get Task Manager, goto Details tab. Right click EasyAntiCheat.exe and select Set Affinity. Click All Processes to untick them all, then just tick CPU 1 and OK... Play the game and 🤞

After years of troubleshooting my own crashes with Div2 I finally got to the point where I was going to sit down to iron out this issue myself so I could play the game. On any given day I would crash on average at least once an hour. After applying this fix I have gone for 7 days without a single crash. This may not fix every single problem but I believe you will see a way more stable gaming experience! Good luck agents!

P.S. In the video, I stated a PC restart shouldn't be required. However, a very few amount of people said it didn't work for them until they reboot their PCs. This could be possible if any game service is still running in the background and didn't close when the game closed. Just to be safe, reboot your PC after making these changes!

It seems the routine is- powercycle machine fully so cache is cleared, then start game and only the game. Try not to run overlays, and don't have any other software open in background. Once game is started, before logging in, go to task manager and set EAC affinity to use only one cpu core. then log in.

Like, the UI is supposed to be glitchy at certain times. Theres a very old loading screen glitch where it stretches out briefly thats been in game since launch.

Also the loading screen circle wobbles from side to side, but thats intentional

if its the appearance bug where gear appearance gets stuck on one of the new event styles, they know about it

So I noticed Division 2 being the only game that kicks my CPU Temp high in the skies.
I went to bios and increased my fans in QFan from Silent to Turbo

PC is cool, loud but idc. But is cool and division doesnt heat anything up.

QUESTION: Is any techie here that could tell me if the Turbo setting could damage my PC in any case ?

It's totally fine. Fans have a max rpm value and even the turbo mode does not reach that so it is safe to use. Besides the mode is a bit noisy but you can run it forever if you want won't harm the PC in any way.

Silent is actually worst because the software tries to keep the fans spinning as lowest as it can comparing to providing 100% cooling power.

Don't worry it's picked up plenty, I can see it very obviously in both videos (enough to a point it'd annoy me to no end if it looked like that for me), it funnily enough looks similar to DLSS3's Frame Generation artefacts, shimmering on suddenly moving elements
Not that the game has that so not the case here, but definitely not normal behaviour
I wonder if there's something along the lines of verifying game files (or even redownloading them), and perhaps a clean install of GPU driver with DDU (or even just deleting shader cache of the game + driver) that'd fix it

Recordings might struggle to pick it up unless you bump the recording bitrate to crazy amounts (making the video file size huge too), otherwise encoding will be quite lossy and such fine detail will be lost in noise/smoothened out, especially since it comes in motion, on your screen it's essentially lossless 1:1 you see what it should be, bar monitor accuracy (and screenshots are just still frames so might be hard to time with it appearing as it comes in specific stages of motion it seems)

But it's still very visibly there even on those recordings you just sent imo

Something iffy about textures/movement/lightning/shadows going on causing some weird slight shimmering/flickering next to moving edges from different perspective/layer elements moving across each other

Can you replicate it in other environments/stages of the day? Could be something iffy with the light of the lamp post + how it's reflected on the ground/textures + shadows, it also seems like it's just smearing around the spotlight's reflection during movement, more so than necessary

to make sure it's not just say coming from how we view an otherwise not buggy effect in a specific place under specific lightning
if the issue persists on different/all graphics settings and verifying game/reinstall, perhaps could even try running it on iGPU if you have one (likely would need to be on super low settings) to help rule out GPU and/or GPU driver

if possible, ideal way to clean install GPU drivers is via DDU (via e.g.: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html)
which thoroughly cleans away existing GPU drivers (used in safe mode), whereafter you reboot and manually install e.g. latest drivers from https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/
You can pre-download that already and have it ready on desktop to make it easy (as when you reboot back without a GPU driver installed, desktop resolution will be quite low)

otherwise you can always opt to just uninstall existing one, and install new one you download from nvidia and select the Clean Install checkbox during installation, it can however leave behind traces of something broken which is why DDU is often recommended to be thorough

it's not a laptop though as he mentioned, and there's no screen tearing in those videos

and it should handle it on ultra, at worst it'd have lower FPS or more drops, not shader glitches like that (and I don't have any of that on ultra either)

it seems a bit too subtle for it to be something like faulty VRAM (that'd usually have more artifacting in general I think) or anything unstable

up to you if you want to do a more elaborate driver clean install (not sure if you used DDU for it, if not that could still be an issue, and also not sure which shader caches you deleted), or if you just want to go with using High (you could also knowing that it's related to graphics settings narrow it down and say put everything on ultra again and lower every setting one by one to check which one causes it)

It's pretty common with EAC, in multiple games using EAC stability and/or stuttering is massively improved by changing its affinity (either to limit it to 1 thread, or to make it use anything but core 0)

you can also make a powershell script (put this in a .ps1 file and run it with right click) that does it, I used this for a while - I run it right around when the blue bar of the blue-ish EAC launcher is finished loading (this is three lines, first line sets EAC's process to just one thread/core 0, second line prints its status right after to confirm, third pauses to let you view the info - if there's red text/errors it means it was ran too early and eac wasn't started yet so I know to retry)

Lot of people use core 0 (it's a pretty default recommendation) and for me that works completely fine and makes a difference, in this game it seems to mostly cause issues when it has access to more than one threads, don't think it's inherently wrong but you can try others if it doesn't make a difference
On top not everyone will have their system/driver interrupts going on core 0 which is what you probably want to avoid too (for a lot of SMT/HT CPUs it's often on second thread of first core / core 1, or 2nd thread of core 2 / 3 (so core 3 or core 5 on higher thread count CPUs)

only downside of it is that unfortunately you can't just run such powershell (.ps1) scripts normally with right click => run with powershell for example, because by default running unsigned scripts and whatnot is disabled so it'll refuse to execute them

So to be able to run any custom scripts and whatnot, you'd need to enable running unsigned scripts by running
set-executionpolicy remotesigned
in powershell one time, from which point you can execute these, I presume it's disabled by default as a security measure to disallow people just running any random scripts they find, but if you're aware of the risks and just use it to run such self made scripts (always check what they do first) I think it's fine, but I wanted to add that disclaimer
like in this case that bit of code is very short and tiny, and easy to verify what it does I think, worth it for me to not forget when launching the game every time

Hello. I have a question, when talking about the Crash that happens in the game, what are the symptoms? Because when I play, the sound goes away and then everything freezes.

Div2 crashes in many various ways, there's no "the Crash" one specific people talk about
When anyone talks about Div2 crashing they just mean in some ways the game unexpectedly stopped working
Whether it's frozen, black screen, game instantly disappears, game goes windowed and disappears, game goes windowed and freezes, sound might or might not continue for a bit (or cut off earlier)

So basically just that the game completely ceased to be playable and you need to restart it (or worst case your PC) to be able to continue playing it in any way (optionally you need to kill it first if it just froze but doesn't go away)
Game can also take down GPU drivers with it which makes them recover briefly (hopefully), and sometimes even affect other programs using the GPU at that point (like say video playback)

I see, so it's one of many ways the game can crash. That last thing, that the GPU stops being in use is true, because sometimes I see that it does not consume any of the GPU, but the game continues to work, until it stops doing so later.

The strangest thing is that it only happens to me with The Division 2 or Rainbow Six Siege, not in other games. I'm starting to think it could be something on PC.

Yeah sometimes when it freezes you see game's CPU and/or GPU usage just go to 0%, maybe even just be stuck there forever

I'd not really go down the rabbit hole of something wrong with PC, I went down that for months and it's really not productive
I've also heard of R6S having issues (though not nearly as many)
But especially with Div2, it crashing more or less is absolutely not indicative of software or hardware issues, even if it can amplify anything being even slightly wrong

I'd only think about that if other games (that are also ideally straining on the PC, ideally making use of all capabilities of especially the GPU, like on RTX cards using RT cores for RT and DLSS and such, Portal RTX is one of the best games for this) are also causing issues
(though if you say have an ever so slightly unstable overclock on RAM, or undervolt on GPU/CPU, Div2 might bring it to light more than most other games, otherwise I'd not worry)

I also noticed (and I see others mention it here too quite a lot) that Div2 is also sensitive to whether you've deleted shader cache after either game or GPU driver update, and especially also GPU driver version
Sometimes when I update GPU drivers the game goes from being fine for weeks to crashing every 5-20 minutes (even after clearing all shader cache), and it's only solved if I DDU clean install back to specific previous set of drivers

I updated to 531.41 when it came out (23rd of March), seemed completely fine, but then the game updated on 28th (and new EAC driver signature is also from 28th) and ever since then I went from crashing less than once a week to crashing about every 15-20 minutes
Clean install DDU rolled back to 531.29 drivers (previous ones, luckily I was fine with those actually, but being on latest is a gamble) and game hasn't acted up yet in a couple tens of hours yet, so could be coincidence but could've also helped

Pretty sure it's just so many variables too so for every hardware and software combination and person's setup it could be something entirely different, and maybe you can find a very specific sweet spot or maybe not on current version of the game, no one knows

Yeah really, don't give yourself the same headache I gave myself over months, I've had the issues on 30 series cards up to a 4090, on both an Intel (DDR4) and now AM5 AMD platform, literally every part in the PC has been changed out, I've in the current PC tried it with different RAM altogether (and ran them many nights in various super stressing tests), reinstalled Windows entirely after nuking SSD and tried multiple versions of it (Win 11 22H2, 21H2, Win 10 22H2, and now the most stable seems Win 10 21H2), tried replacing motherboard, tried another 4090, tried two other PSUs and generally reseated things, tried every available GPU driver, BIOS settings and versions etc

Really, performance or brand or model really doesn't matter, it can just randomly decide it doesn't like something and maybe there's some RNG combination of setup you find that works, maybe not, and then even if you do - maybe an update comes that ruins it all, so don't stress yourself too much (unless you find issues in multiple games, especially ones not known for many stability issues)

But I will do the clean installation with DDU and install the previous driver to the current one.

I think you completely misunderstood, I wasn't stating opinions, I was troubleshooting and diagnosing what seemed to potentially have been hardware faults (both in event viewer and reliability history were errors also like live kernel event 141s and nvlddmkm 0 errors that can point to either drivers at fault or potential hardware errors, and for example games suddenly crashing with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED - indicating no further error that could be found from said game when going through logs of said other games with their respective servers outside of basically "the GPU and/or GPU driver suddenly ceased to exist and thus game closed", which is either driver, GPU hardware fault, but as per many of posts in such megathreads as the one up there you can see how it can also relate to niche issues with RAM unstability causing GPU driver crashes, or even BIOS incompatibility depending on MB where sometimes they literally solved GPU drivers crashing by replacing the motherboard, sometimes with the same model, sometimes only fixed by replacing it with another model)

None of that was to "provide a solution" all I said to that guy was, that since he was about to go down the rabbit hole of troubleshooting hardware issues (the way I did, which was a very extensive but proper way, where I left out the actual steps because that'd have been like 30 pages of writing here, and instead summarised the results), I reminded him that just one or two games causing issues that are known to be extremely problematic regardless of hardware, is not a good indicator to start doing any troubleshooting like that

I didn't feel the need to start providing receipts and further proof to make the point to him that he should find issues across multiple games (especially ones not known to be problematic) because if you base your view of whether your PC has issues or not on how stable Div2 is, you'll think that like 90% of PCs people have out there have issues which isn't true of course lmao, it'd just have been pointless vomit of messages that as per my conclusion didn't matter here

Yus if your screen has a static refresh rate (not adapting to incoming frames, like Freesync/Gsync helps to do so), it'll just keep refreshing on that timer
but the GPU might be pushing frames all over the place depending on how quick they're ready, so a new frame might come in when the screen is still halfway across updating the previous frame, so it starts writing the new frame over the old one from that point onwards, creating the tear

Freesync/Gsync helps the monitor's refresh rate stay in sync with the fluctuating FPS output of the PC, reducing or eliminating (depending on settings) tearing as monitor will be in sync with the output frames

From the GPU/PC's standpoint, there's no tear, just full frames being sent out constantly

Fyi, if you have the camera hitching/micro stuttering, it can be fixed by disabling Nvidia LocalSystem Container via msconfig: Nvidia Control Panel will still work while Nvidia Experience will be disabled, hence it's probably a driver compatibility issue with Division 2 (Division 1 does not have this issue). Can vouch for this so much, I'm on 531.29 and it's also stable (and most importantly, it has the hotfix to prevent 531.18's annoying behaviour with high CPU usage from NV Container)

I think I'm on like 1 freeze the past 100+ game hours (caused by alt tabbing while in inventory for ages)
The moment I updated to any of the ones after (even with a completely clean DDU install and fresh shader cache), I was instantly crashing at least like every 20mins or more
Those later versions are also plagued by known issues of more stuttering and/or crashes in various other games, so I reckon a lot of people might be crashing because of being on latest version too

Some of these drivers are a mine field to navigate, latest couple can be really bad, 531.29 seems decent, but then some before that also had some issues, and then the early 520 series (and 510 series if you're on older cards) seem more stable again

Running OW or Missions I don't freeze or crash too often in Dx12 (maybe once a week) but in CD it is very rare to complete one without either a freeze or one of the 'glitches' where all eight of you spawn together and then find no beginning hunters or you get the psychedelic loading screen where it sticks on 100% in a weird rotating pattern and bins half the players before you even spawn! CD is a bloody farse!

The only reason I stay playing is because it still is a really amazing game.

Think that the only thing you did 'wrong' was to use the boost. It bypasses a lot of triggers that unlocks specific content, such as projects. Not so sure that everything is set up properly when you start in NYC.

Though such a hard crash seems like a weird instability and/or power issue with hardware, for it to not even make a BSoD with a (mini)dump even like memory instability doesn't sound super likely right away

It'd be puzzling for just Div2 to cause it but the system to pass various tests like OCCT (Power for like 5-10m, maybe some tests from the CPU and Linpack tab for CPU+RAM instability, Memory with as much mem% as you have free while closing most background programs for some basic superficial memory test, some 3D standard + VRAM test for a short bit for superficial GPU test), that'd normally at least usually rule out heavy hardware/driver issues and you'd expect a game to only really perhaps crash more rarely (and would need more thorough tests to rule out edge case instabilities)

Yeah that's pretty much a normal expected error of an instant power loss, basically what'd happen if you just out of nowhere unplugged it or say PSU shut it down from a power surge (like GPU drawing a too high transient spike or just total system power being too high for the PSU)
I don't expect other errors seeing how windows doesn't exactly have time to write anything else but was just in case it had something happening before that

Nowadays it's usually a good go-to as it likely has more performance (especially with newer hardware), and for some people it can even be more stable than DX11, but it's a toss-up and if you have issues you can always try DX11 to see if it happens to behave better for you (and if not can swap back, unless you also see better DX11 performance)

I think only obvious things would be is seeing some stupidly high (higher than those previously we've seen) wattages for CPU and/or GPU, or some super high temps on e.g. GPU hotspot/memory and/or CPU
But that'd be dumfounding if that'd somehow happen from just Div2 but not stress tests

I'm also curious if it behaves the same if you for example launch the game with (more strict) FPS caps, like not sure what Hz monitor you're using but perhaps going into NV Control Panel and in Manage 3D settings under global, just put like a 60FPS global Max Frame Rate cap just to see how it behaves if performance and power is kept way more in check, that'd kind of for sure rule out power and temperature issues

After putting the max frame rate, just in case it doesn't instantly apply (even after clicking Apply, I've seen a game launched after not follow that, so you can hold CTRL + Shift + Windows + B for a quick GPU driver restart that applies changed settings for sure, before launching the game - you might see like monitor flicker for a second or two, this prevents needing to restart PC for it to apply in worst case scenario)

Div2 pushes both GPU and CPU really hard I found relative to even latest 2023 AAA games when on sufficiently high graphics settings, but other demanding and maxed out games (preferably where you don't have graphics settings low enough that it doesn't saturate e.g. GPU fully before reaching v-sync/g-sync/FPS cap)

Div2 is also one of those (I think Destiny 2 is another one, there's a few like this) that seem more sensitive to on the edge unstable GPU/RAM overclocks and whatnot

Worth to rule out software side of MB, perhaps most convenient (not sure how many tweaks you've done in BIOS, usually I'd expect at least like DOCP/XMP turned on, and perhaps some stuff like PBO turned to on/auto) is to save current MB profile (hopefully MB supports saving settings into profiles, most MBs do), and then reset BIOS with either CMOS clear or just reset all to defaults option in BIOS menu, and then after just to be sure check if PBO is turned off, and run it like that to see if that clearly helps

If not clearing BIOS, then perhaps also checking if it has an update and update it to latest to help rule it out (technically if it's already latest, there's a chance latest made it more unstable and a previous one would work better but that's a bit more of a gamble and I'd rather not recommend someone just go out and wildly change BIOS versions many times)

if it's running with 60 cap that's a bit worrisome since then we might've just prevented it from crashing by not letting it push things to limit, like instability wise or anything

and it's of course not a long term solution (+ it could just still crash any time, who knows maybe by just opening another browser tab)

If BIOS on defaults/after clear + turning PBO off doesn't make a difference, if you have say MSI Afterburner then setting GPU's TDP to 90% can also rule out transient power spikes pushing it over, I'm still thinking that shouldn't be quite there but starting a 3080 they did trip slightly weaker 750W PSUs especially those that started to age a bit, now a 3070 Ti is 290W instead of 350W, that's still not that far off
Setting GPU TDP cap to 90 or I guess ideally like 70-80% for example would pretty much rule that out fully and if not then it's one slider change (or button press) to set it back to defaults

Fun adventure, I've literally seen the same hard crash symptoms from quite various stuff that you don't expect to so that's why I'd prefer not to rule it out, even if it's highly likely that X and Y would crash more gracefully like with just crash to desktop / GPU driver stopped and restarted while staying in Windows / BSOD writing reports etc

Far from usual (usually GPU driver crashes are more graceful nowadays than this), but seen the exact same where it was GPU driver crashing very not gracefully (Div2 at some point was one of the only games that was also crashing my GPU driver too when the game went poof), in which case a fresh GPU driver install has solved it (DDU clean install to thoroughly remove existing drivers in safe mode, and then install a freshly downloaded new one from NV's/GeForce site)

But we'll cross that bridge when we get there, so we're not doing 20923 things simultaneously

Oh my goodness been a while I've used MSI's BIOS, I'd have a look around if there's anything to save profiles to, I doubt it lacks that feature

Yeah I saw that, I'm wondering if that'd just do it, I don't see why that wouldn't just save everything but not sure if MSI pulled a weird one where it'd only save just OC related settings there

Since the "OC Profile" section's subtext above is I think " Save/Load BIOS settings"

Just found someone ask the same question, apparently that section saves all BIOS settings as expected so that'd be a good way to just save whatever you have now so you can restore that profile in the same place to return to everything as it is now, in case using defaults with PBO and DOCP/XMP off doesn't help

After you do that I think PBO for MSI is in OC settings (on left) => Advanced CPU Config (near top with an arrow) and then there's PBO on top, by default likely on auto, could try that on Disabled

And then I think F10 to save and exit (or just find the button)

Depending on how comfortable you are with hardware (like if you've built it yourself or someone/a shop helped you, or if it was a prebuild), after that would be things like checking and re-seating power connectors (like the 4/8 pin ones for EPS/CPU usually on top left of MB, the 6+2/8 pin to the GPU, 24 pin to MB, and on both the MB/GPU's side and the PSU's side of the cable
Also reseating RAM and GPU (and, less likely for it to help so this is more like a "idk what else to do" thing, running it with only one of the RAM sticks if you have 2 or more, and then the other)

But perhaps an easier one that's still on software without touching hardware, is to clean install GPU drivers

What's worrisome is that this can still be a PSU issue where it trips from power spike (especially transient spike), I thought a power test would generally rule it out but I've been finding more and more threads of people who passed the same and other power stress tests yet certain heavy games would still push it over without FPS caps or when sufficiently demanding, and it turned out to be the PSU and after swapping it everything was fine
But before that there's still been countless of cases where it was a case of "reseated GPU/RAM/cables or even like reinstalled GPU driver and now it's fine"

With clean installing GPU drivers, technically one could download fresh latest drivers from e.g. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/ as I like having it downloaded on desktop and ready, uninstall existing one (perhaps this step might not even be needed, depending on if the installer lets you just run it to overwrite it), and then just running it and choosing the Clean Install checkbox in it

But there's a reason tech forums often recommend using DDU to clean install it as a GPU driver has many parts and it's quite common for some of it to stay behind (and then you're gambling whether any of those had issues) and stick around after a re-install

DDU (open source and free program) can be grabbed from e.g. https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html (download link on far bottom, starts downloading after 5s once you go to any of the mirrors)
Which gives a zipped up package, you only care about the DDU v18.0.6.3.exe inside that you can yoink out to e.g. desktop
You can already run that, as it's just an archive on its own, it asks you just to extract somewhere - it extracts a folder with stuff so you can keep default path (just to desktop if you run it from there) and it'll dump a DDU v18.0.6.3 folder on there

At that point, running it from regular Windows won't quite work as parts of GPU driver are active (as they're being used right now), so they can't be properly removed
So you want to go into Safe Mode (where you have that tiny resolution and drivers not loaded) and run Display Driver Uninstaller.exe in that folder, just without changing settings make sure to select Device type to GPU on the right, and below that make sure NVIDIA is chosen, then simply the top option of Clean and restart, it'll clean up all traces and automatically restart PC
At which point you can just run the GeForce driver installer just like you'd normally install the drivers

Getting into safe mode used to be spam F8 in older Windows but this changed Win10 onwards, I think a quick easy way is to go into msconfig (can just search for it in start menu, shows up as System Configuration) and in Boot tab check Safe Boot, then just restart PC and it'll boot into Safe Mode without drivers and all loaded

So no hassle overall just many steps perhaps (but it makes sure it's done thoroughly so you're not wondering later if it was perhaps just something related to this still), and let me know if you want more help at any specific step

Yus the frame cap can fix it if it's something being pushed to either unstable (clocks related) or power related stuff, just keep in mind it might still crash if say some super demanding scenario pushes things harder
You can combine it with lowering graphics settings a couple notches to make it work less hard that has a similar effect, to give you more headroom as a band-aid fix

PSU thing can be kind of a hassle and of course super ideally, if you have any other PSU lying around or one that you could borrow to test, would rule out the far most likely thing still (and it'd not even have to be a super great one, a good quality gold+ 650, even 550W one should be able to run that)

I went through that one, fun times... had an old 750W, old boye so it's completely not modular, fun times checking everything
I think I just ran it with the PC case still open and the PSU just literally outside, just to have everything hooked up (so I could have the other PSU remain inside and as much left alone as possible) just to test

That might help, so then you only need to unplug stuff on the MB/GPU/devices side and leave everything else, and just kind of run the other PSU directly into those ports without actually mounting the PSU inside, no need to undo all the existing cable routing and remove PSU + put in new one, for a quicker test
Won't need to run long like that anyway so you can pack it up again after (or if it turns out to be PSU, then you could hook it up then knowing for sure at least the effort is worth it, to have something as a replacement to run it while waiting on the other one to be RMA'd or anything)

But yea probably still worth to try out reseating at least all power cables before that, just to make sure it's not just that (since using the other PSU would mean you'd replug all the cables too) so you don't think it's the whole PSU while it was just a case of cables replugged or using other ones

I have discovered I can't use the old psu to test ;---;

I may just have to bring it into a shop and see if they can figure it out/test if it's the PSU. Buying a new on wouldn't be too hard, but it might be better to trust not myself to mess with one of the most expensive things I own.

Feels like something is in the edge being pushed over sometimes, with FPS cap you might have more headroom in some way but any time anything more demanding happens (either in game or background) that can push it over, which is why I warned that it likely won’t be more than a crude bandaid fix (and also potentially reducing graphics settings a bunch might increase the headroom, depending on what the issue is)

And then it working without a cap could be short lived too, though on longer term you’d ideally find some consistent way to reproduce it

For third party/RMA/repair shop to test unfortunately it’d need to find more easily reproducible issues so ideally finding some demanding games (also perhaps making sure there’s no FPS cap or anything like vsync on in those so it doesn’t limit how much PC is doing, just for the test) or other kind of stress tests that do at least sometimes reproduce the issue

Otherwise they might just run something and not find issues depending on what they do and if it’s only one game doing it they might blame it on that (even though I still find it more likely that there’s something more severe going on with how it instantly fully crashes like on power loss/failing PSU/badly seated cable etc)

As of now, there's no concrete fix for the crashes. You can check on youtube, Reddit, or scroll up on this channel for every possible solution.
