the one thing to watch for w/ an ND set in a group is aggro, yours will be high with multiple targets hitting for a lot all at once so keep cover nearby.

I ran a yellow core ND set for a while, rolled chc/chd maxed on the 2nd stats. that took a million years to farm. it was a fun set but wasn't strong in really anything specific. good off heals, strong shield if you can find a corner, turret/drone generally, etc.

He's still highly utilising cover - he just didn't press the button to go in cover. You're missing the point.
The game is cover based - that's why you have the damn button to force your character into cover. There's several mechanics that gives you damage to and from cover. By definition the game is cover-based. It's designed around you using cover.
You might not like that playstyle and that's fair. Everyone says that's fair.
But from what I gather, you call striker's shit (that's why this conversation started a loooong time ago) and heartbreakers better which is objectively not true.
For you, it might be true - because you have a different playstyle. That's individual. But striker's is defacto more dps than heartbreaker - and can be played without dying, like you keep saying people do.

I totally get the appeal of different playstyles - when I played a year or two ago, previous to my return this January, I was running a Hunter's Fury Scorpio build that I remember as being busted OP, I loved having the shield being able to practically face tank on Heroic - but when I came back, I don't know if my gear wasn't properly rolled, if it was because my sub 200 SHD or if the gearset/build I was running back then had changed/been balanced, but it fucking sucked. I kept dying even though I remember being close to untouchable.
Now I've gone into other builds. Determined Headhunter. Striker's. And I play those from cover, I run through Heroic missions with 4-5 directives solo in 10 minutes, I beat DUA legendary solo with a striker build. Because it fits my playstyle rn

@pale canopy I didn't say you weren't allowed to be biased. I'm merely stating you should be wary of subjective vs objective truths.
If you want to recommend HB to people, do it from a subjective standpoint, say you like the build, how it plays. It suits you, because you have more survivability without sacrificing too much DPS.
But you cannot be bashing Striker's when it's objectively the go to build because of how well it performs. I actually hate how busted it is once you start getting into the playstyle, properly learning how to utilise it. I barely wanna play other builds.

Ok, so I have found using the Combuster Chestpiece with 4 other Exuro pieces and an Iron Lung LMG to be fairly effective with groups of enemies. The iron lung lights their asses up more when they’re already on fire. The turret takes out any airborne grenades coming your way.
I also use the Banshee to confuse the enemies. Confuse then ignite the baddies

Note: with the combuster chestpiece, the turret gives off explosive damage within a range every 5 seconds while said enemies are confused and on fire.

so you just recraft until you get the one you want.

the expertise levels you have on the weapon are not lost.

the only hitch is Capacitor due to the 2nd stat of DTA, you need to make sure it rolls to max when you recract plus have the 3rd stat you want bc you can't optimize the 2nd stat.

a lot of people seem to get max AR/DTA w/ DTTOC at like 8-9% on the formulas.

your mileage may vary.

but aim for max DTA on the recraft and dttoc on the 3rd at whatever it rolls at.

you can optimize the 1st and 3rd slots.
