Right now archers feel extremely weak in early kingdoms.
Reasons:
• Early spenders get Minamoto + Cao Cao, so cavalry dominates open field.
• Cavalry counter archers, so archers struggle even more.
• Early archer commanders are very limited compared to infantry f2p options Sun Tzu + Bjorn.
Because of this, most players avoid archers until much later seasons.
Possible small solution: add attack range to archers
Example mechanic:
• Archers gain attack range X distance
• If attacking from that distance, they do not receive counterattack damage
• If enemies close the distance, counterattack works normally
• Counterattack would also work normally when attacking cities or other structures.
