if anything it is making it worse for F2P by incentivising them to not expertise commanders and run 5 marches of 5511 commanders on the field

youre better off using the heads to max march by march fully and running less marches on the field

IMO it's already impossible for f2p/low spenders to run 3 meta marches before SOC and with SOC commanders coming early now (KvK3) invest in anything pre-SOC became even more risky and not worth it if you want to stand a chance in SOC (Swap event only helps whales where it is now, IMO it should happen before or after 1st SOC), in the meantime players still have DKP to meet over the risk of being zeroed if they don't so cut corners and going 5551, 5155 or 5515 with certain commanders end up being a must to not be left so far behind and meet their DKP.

Aside from my cav march where I benched Joan P (5525, that 2 thanks to this s* skill system) and replaced with Arthur expertised the other two marches still have Scipio P 5551 and Hermann P 5551 and I have no intention to change that (max that last skill cost 300gh+ alone, 600gh+ if we count the two commanders) until a proper replacement worth of expertise comes simply because I can't, even with the swap which allow me to get a 4th march after 3 years of playing (siege one because I saw no point updating my 3 main marches because I have no equipment for a 4th infa/cav/archer march and investment on my current commanders was too high to just bench them, using a mix of harverst set and epic engineering set atm) I only have 1k gold heads left so I have to plan wisely which commander I'll get or not and we never know when another nevsky level of commander (too good to ignore) will come so playing safe with gold heads is a must for those who can't afford to pay for their expertise whenever they come.

We also have to take into account that f2p and low spenders don't reach the VIPs that give gold heads at the same speed as those who can pay for it, so that should be added to the math as well.

which f2p/low spender has good enough commanders (skill level wise) for a good swap at that time though? Do we even have access to SOC commanders when the event arrives (that p2w event doesn't count)? I was only able to swap in the event we got in SOC because I've been playing for 3 years and still had to use my expertised YSG for it because the key commanders were all 55xx or 555 at best since gathering commanders were left out of it.

to me it does, my Joan is 5525 because I was lucky since skill reset (a P2W and limited item) atm also relies on RNG and I couldn't pick the skill I wanted to upgrade and that level 2 cost 75gh which is a lot of gold heads.

Ofc this change is hardly something game changing given the pace at which new commanders are released but it's a small thing that helps those that need the most a lot.

that's the problem, if I recall correctly only one or two were easily obtainable and we are talking about an unlock, not even expertised so along with spending A LOT of gems and other rss for an unlock you still need those 690gh to make your investment worth it

farms usually have a surplus of gems and speedups depending on how active you are on them that you won't use anywhere (I personally only use them to farm, not even finish the dailies) different from main accounts where you have to manage your rss wisely for equipment events and everything else, the cost for the UNLOCK of relevant commanders on this event was high as hell if we take that in consideration, luckily I didn't need anyone since I have a somewhat old account but I felt the pain for those caught in between.

You can argue that the unlock price is high, but not that it is impossible to unlock for f2p, most relevant comms cost 600 tickets (if you count that you need the first lvl)

to get one commander that may not even be the one you want/need which it was 100 of the event item I think, then it changes to 500 and then god knows (don't remember if I got to that part)..

2nd and 3rd tier commanders we have to unlock x number of commanders to make them available.
