Yeah as a Secondary to STP, it deals slightly more damage and it's mre tanky, on the other hand, LC has his expertise that can proc your conditional iconic buffs more often, so both commanders has value to offer

Ideally, it's good to run 2 marches with these 3 commanders being included - BQ, LC, STP

And at the end of the year, we will get a new infantry AoE damage commander most likely, so it will fit in perfectly in a 2 Smite marches setup

If you have to choose between STP/BQ and STP/LC at the time being, STP/BQ is like 10%-15% better

what about for long term investment, LC's expertise is more unique so will he last longer?

That is a valid point to consider but unfortunately it's not enough to make that decision. that is due to the fact that LC with his active skill, is really strong as primary, specially with the back and forth fighting where you get to cast 1 skill and then retreat or enemy retreats. however; the issue is that LC has the attack tree and not the smite tree

Smite tree is far superior now to the Attack tree, specially with the most recent changes to talent trees

Therefore, as both commanders are 5 aoe target damage dealing commanders, if a time comes that one of them has to be primary in the second march, it would definitely be BQ over LC specially because BQ primary also has a greate advantage with his active skill

One more thing to mention as well is the higher scale of dealing damage that keeps increasing with new commanders being released, at some point, neither BQ nor LC will be viable for the best 2 infantry smite marches

This December we will see the new commander from infantry and then we can see which orientation and pairings works best for the 2 best smite marches. so if anything, I wouldn't make any decision about them now, I would keep things as they are till December

With that in mind, it kinda depends on what are your capabilities with regards to maxing commanders

You should at least prioritize a march for archers, such as QSH/YSG and 1 Infantry, and whether that 1 infantry is STP/BQ or STP/LC both are okay, but if you have less gold heads than needed then STP/5515 BQ is also an option

And if you spend on the dailies, you can max LC over time for a second march or BQ if you choose to go with LC instead

BQ and LC are going to be a safe investment for at least 16 months

I have enough gold heads to immediately expertise another commander and have some left over.
