Always try to upgrade your technology to t4, don't rush at all. Save ur resources but never open t5 if u are low spender (i mean you can but not needed for a long time) because if u open t5, u could still get clapped by t4s

Max your equipment first of all and then open t5

Commanders are highly recommended too. They can change everything, like their equipment is very important.

And try to upgrade your low level buildings if u are free to, like 2 level farms etc.
