That's just saving all your resources and speedups, because there are events which give you great bonus awards for gaining power, using speedups, stuff like that. Also later in the kingdom you'll have access to a few things like "titles" and "kingdom buffs" which you can use to make upgrades take less time

1. Craft 4 dragon breath pieces, to have 6 piece dragon breath set. Move leadership legs to CM and then start crafting eternal empire stuff on him. Plan would be to run 2 archer marches, one with 2-2-2 and one with 6 piece long term
2. Craft leadership boots, then leave helmet and weapon on thutmose planning to go 2-2-2 and start crafting eternal empire stuff

And regarding Minamoto, he's very good in KvK 1 will do well with YSG, best cav march by far and best rally march as well for K1, on K2 he does well but falls off a bit and from that point on you can use him behind Arthur for KvK 3 as a transition march till you get Achilles

Although outside of K1 and 2 he's a bit useless, he's very good for forts late game but as it stands now you can squeeze some value out of him since achiles is stupid hard to get from gathering of heroes

If I'm not mistaken you get 150 GHs from Writers of history if u buy them all, you're then missing 540 GHs for K1, i don't personally know how easy they may be to get tho I'm not a spender either, u can always expertise mid kvk at worst

To be honest, you're behind on VIP, not really on commanders since you can invest on STP and be done with it, your KP is bad and you don't have T5 unlockable, honestly? If your kingdom doesn't ask you to migrate it out I would give it one KvK, full focus on field, see how you do and if u don't think it's good enough restart

Sun aethel and baibars are the toptier pvp commanders (only YSG is superior but he is expensive and should only be focused by spender and very experienced f2p).
Kvk is server versus server. The only moment where pvp should be relevant
