More context or something : so basically I downloaded unity, looked at some tutorials how to use camera and crap, make rigid body etc. But when I tried to edit c# code (yes I'll use C# don't judge me >:[ ) , it doesn't work, do I have to download anything else or something, and does the same thing come to when I make my shaders ?
#someone please teach me unity because me no have knowledge on stuff and want to make dream

unity has recently made a bunch of awful changes that has broken the trust of many, many developers this last week. (search “unity runtime fee”)
i highly recommend godot or unreal. if you don’t care, https://learn.unity.com/
thanks, also do i actually need visual studio code ?
noteepad,i just copied stuff online and saved it as a .txt
you'll have a really bad time with notepad. also, scripts are not supposed to end with .txt.
oh
godot's text editor has autocomplete, highlighting, a lot of really nice stuff that doesn't require an extra program.
C++ ends with cpp, c# ends with cs, Java ends with java, python ends with py
i know i just don’t know what engine they’re using
No, but it is free and open source
I'm using unity
.cs and vscode
Me got no time to talk, me at school right now, but I need your help! Click the form to provide crucial input for my game. Your insights will make it epic!
Please make it easy for me I'm just winging it at this point
can someone help with this, i downloaded the third person controller assets and drag and drop it to my character, why doesnt it work
what asset?
It's the unity starter asset third control version
did you import the whole thing?
Yes
you need to set the references in the inspector
How do I do that ?
there should be a script
that means there are references missing in the character gameobject
Got it
basically follow the tutorials here to learn a lot about unity
as of now godot is still nowhere near unity.
most people here won’t need 80% of what unity has. godot is good enough, and won’t charge you money for using it.
yeah
but i still prefer unity
but godot is very nice
its open source
also
don't start by making your dream game
start by making small games and go more and more until you start making your dream game
