#I dont like the new update (100 hour plus players perspective)

Before I start I want to say I loved this game before but I think that the new update has changed some things that made the core game unique in the asymetrical horror space and have ultimately made it worse

After taking a break from the game to try new experiences I decided to come back today as I noticed the games picture on xbox had changed. Saw the update post and was excited and instantly hopped into a game. This is how that game and all future games went

Ok so im a kid, run into the neighbours house to start looting and im instantly bear-trapped. I guess there's traps around the house now but thats fine and I move on to the kitchen to be greeted by the clowns smoke bomb. Im confused since not enough time has passed for the neighbour to be here but I move on. Next thing I know the drawers are locked and I need a crowbar and also I'm forced to hold the flashlight in slot 1. The rest of the game was me being annihilated by the neighbour due to the excessive traps and all useful searching spots being locked off

I have no idea why these changes were made but I'm assuming its because of good players like me who would rush the game in 3 minutes. Im fine with the traps being there already but there is so many that you spend more time checking the floor that looking for keys and its ridiculous. Secret neighbour was the only fast-paced asymetrical horror game and now its turned itself into a DBD clone with 3d platforming. Also I'm pretty sure this is the reason why since character speed have been changed also and the neighbour has received a ton of buffs

Tinybuild if you see this I want you to know I really care about this game and thats why I'm writing this but your trying to turn this into something its not. I loved this game for its buggy skips and heart-pumping dodging and item-throwing against good neighbours but you've changed this to a slow-paced crawl that emits more boredom than fear. Please hear me out and realise that secret neighbour isn't another DBD🙏

Just to add on, the mechanic I hate the most though is how your muted once caught. I remember having so many mind game moments were you would have to guess if the calls were fake or not but now you cant even ask for help. It was a great way to tell players where the neighbour was before they disappeared without ruining the neighbours gameplan and now you cant even tell whose alive or not anymore without pausing the game and checking DC's. Secret neighbour was scary because of tension not because of suspense and I think your taking the game in the wrong direction

And before anybody says im a kid main complaining about the changes since the games harder thats not it either, I love playing the neighbour (spooky neighbour and crow are my favourite) and the changes if you ask me make the games way to easy and less exciting when everyone just walks into bear traps and die without you even doing anything

By the way as someone who does game development aswell I get that changing all these futures back is nigh impossible and a waste of time so atleast can you add a classic mode or something similar that removes them for classic players like me

these changes we're made to slow down the gameplay, so that the more experienced players can't open the basement within 2 minutes. the game should be stealth based, not combat based, because that's literally what Hello Neighbor is about and that's why you can't use the emotes when getting stealth grabbed. The Neighbor literally got nerfed too (stunned after killing kids and when kids are rescued from the neighbors hands, abilities and missing grabs takes stamina). the traps are there so the neighbor could have a chance against the more experienced players, and while i do have to admit there are a bit too many traps, i think they are a good addition. they added the additional flashlight slot so that players always carry a flashlight to look out for the traps.

this update is the closest we have to the old alphas.

and trust me, i know this game, i've been playing since the beta.

But I do have to remember the game is a horror game and therefore should be slow and suspensful wich I asume was the devs original intentions

they added optional aim assist, so the less experienced players can save other players better.

Yeah changes like that are positive in my opinion, in retrospective I think I've just become attached to the original versions style and im kind of sad about the new one since it removed the thing I thought made the game stand out from others in its genre apart form being a platformer

Got bored of slow-paced asymmetricals like DBD (which I had 1,000 hours plus in) and found this which was the exact opposite and a fresh experience, personally its the fact that the specific nature of the fast-paced style has gone and now theres nothing to fill the hole after spending a ton of time in slowerand more traditional horror games

Oh well it is what it is, still wouldn't mind the alternative game mode though and can firmly say I enjoyed the 100 hours I did have post-update
