Pretty correct. Mr. Peterson locks his son away because he views him as a bad omen and wants to keep him safe. He tricks Nicky into going in his basement so Aaron can have a friend. Aaron feels so bad about everything he has done and does beleive he is a bad omen. (Itā€™s not confirmed he is though.) Also itā€™s confirmed Nicky doesnā€™t have ptsd, because the language is different in all the games. The language is known as Wayron Croobian.

The shadow figure is a representation of fear within each character. To Mr. Peterson the shadow man is a kid, because he will always fear Aaron as he is a bad omen (idk if he actually is or not, itā€™s not confirmed), to Nicky the shadow man is a man, because he always feared the neighbor. The 2 end boss battles show him fighting off the neighbor directly, and then the fear he represents.

There are several theories at the moment all I can say is what I think and some facts. The Guest is seen at multiple points in time. He is seen in 2017 and all the way back in HN2 which is around 1999 fall I forgot the exact year. Basically during and after act 2 of HN. He is a being with some weird powers. His main idea is that he takes what someone stops caring about, but will never stop caring about his golden apple.

He can transform from thin air and has this place called the guestā€™s nest where he stores stuff, it was originally found in Mr. Petersonā€™s van. Itā€™s a magical place so could appear in other places too. Another theory is he is not Mr. Peterson at all, and is just controlling him, it has some evidence, but personally I think the time travel one is more beleivable. Or he could be the shadow man as someone said there is some evidence behind that.

3 are from Nickyā€™s perspective before act 1 leading into act 1 in the final book. 3 are a prequal to the prequal and are from the neighborā€™s son Aaron, lots of good lore in those. Finally the most HN2 related is reset day taking placing around 2016-2017, the guest is in that one. To explain the guest you kinda need GN2 though. Nobody really needs GN1 lol.
