There are multiple universes/timelines. This is because of Mayak, and the devices. All the books and games are still connected, but stuff like the show are basically just alternative universes and timelines. Norman Darby seems to know how to access these and travel between them. Rodger and Adelle were the ones who discovered how to do that, but passed it on to Norman. Every little thing that's different is just the same event, but altered because of Mayak or the devices

Lets say the cops just didn't care about nicky going missing just like Aaron and Mya, no one cares. So tge SN kids decide to plan to break in and save nicky, BUT the mom calls them in for dinner so they decide to do it later. Then when the time is right and everyone else is asleep, the SN kids break into the act 1 house and fail. Who knows what happens to them after. Then once those 2 months of nicky being in the basement pass, he escapes. We don't know what Aaron does and we don't know about the SN kids. So finally the cops get involved and try to see what the problem once nicky tells them what Peterson did. He then goes missing so he can't be found (house is no longer occupied) so a year or 2 pass as the entire town crumbles and gets old because of storms and other stuff. At some point after that HN2 happens. Thats what I think. smile

||Long time ago there was the Tavish family, an Uber rich family full of money. The next part is my own assumption of the timeline(s). They find Gammy Flo, a person who had accidentally made Golden Apples (a candy), and gave her a bunch of money to start the Golden Apple Corporation, a company that mass produces Golden Apples. Eventually the observatory and these "devices" are made, that are able to manipulate people's luck, and possibly more. A cult has also formed around people who use these devices, called the Forest Protectors, who bring feathered costumes to the observatory to manipulate the luck, this is called a ritual. the 1960s we have 2 important people, Norman Darby, a reporter, and Gordon Cleave, his boss. It's presumed afterward that Norman Darby is dead. Fast forward again and we come to Theodore Peterson's (The Neighbor) grandparents, graduates from university who came to Raven Brooks to investigate it's weird weather in the weather station (Mayak). They manage to excavate a device and presumably use it to study the storms, but end up discovering too much of Tavish property that they end up being arrested. They then proceed to bury the devices in the ground hoping no one discovers them again. Childhood friend of Ted (Theodore) Ike does discover them though and stores the pieces in his wallet.||

We don’t see him because the act with him in it (act 2) is a memory and the player only sees him in the books.

Act 3 and finale are inside the player’s head and are replays of act 1 but messed up by the player’s fear. The thing boss battle symbolizes us protecting our child self from all this trauma and growing each time we protect him.
