For Gregory, he got trapped in the mega pizzaplex because he was too busy hiding from Vannessa (the security guard) because she was acting strange, so he have to survive until 6 am with Freddy on his side (trying his best to find other exits). While surviving until 6 am, Gregory wants to destroy the main 3 glamrock animatronics just for fun (like what a crazy kid would enjoy doing) so he did it anyway just to upgrade Freddy. Later on, he notices some princess quest arcade machines that he curiously played each of them during the night. After playing 3 princess quest arcade games, he freed Vannessa/Vanny out of Glitchtrap's (The Mimic) control. So canonically, Gregory, Freddy, and Vannessa all escaped out of the Mega Pizza plex and started to become a family as friends.

For Cassie however, it's pretty clear that she came to the Mega Pizzaplex just to save her friend Gregory as he sent her a message to come over and rescue him. So Cassie travels through the ruins of the Pizzaplex (After a huge earthquake happened) while encountering the ruined animatronics that Gregory destroyed back then. During her journey, she found a Vanny mask that Vannessa dropped after being freed. She uses the mask to travel through walls (unknown reason as to how that works) while following Gregory's instructions by turning off all the security nodes while avoiding MXES (the entity) through her journey. After finally going deep below underground (where fnaf 6 pizzeria is at), Cassie then shuts down security protocols that sealed MXES away from getting you (MXES was created by Vannessa and Gregory to protect security systems). After that, she broke the sealed concrete wall that blocked Gregory's exit... or should I say? The Mimic!!!! So it was revealed that Gregory was never trapped in the Mega Pizzaplex and the Mimic was the one who lured Cassie to come and revisit the Pizzaplex just to free himself so he can get back into killing streak.
