Unpublished maps are saved locally, published maps are saved in the workshop/cloud. So as long as you know where your maps are and back them up before putting them back in, your creations should be safe.

It's because when you get caught by the neighbor silently, your character is "stunned". So you can't scream for help, even the voice chat is off while you get caught like that.
