The lighting was fine, arguably better during the beta and up until the Halloween 2020 update. After that, the lighting just looked really ugly. They ending up fixing it and the game actually looked pretty in the Summer 2021, but they keep tweaking it and now it just looks bad again.

hn1: had pretty looking lighting a good cartoonish style in alpha 2-3. Super ugly in full release

hn2: had a unique art style that was actually finished, went for a pretty but mostly super generic art style that doesn't capture Hn at all in the end

SN: was the absolute peak of Hn1 graphics, over time Holo made the game look worse and worse and mixed more art styles making it super ugly. Now they're going to the genric hn2 style

for HE yeah it got better

and HS always looked good

SN has to be the worst case for me

because I love hn1's style

and it looked so good in the alphas

and then Holo just started to stop caring over time
