What I do is I use neighbor gates and doors to get to the keys first. Then I hide the keys (if there is a detective then its over though)

Thats a bug. The game right now is really in a bad state; because it hasn't been updated in almost 6 months. Luckily the next update comes this month, and it is overhauling a lot of things, its coming with a better anti cheat, and id also expect many big fixes
