I can only speak to my own experience in that trying to have an "average playthrough" on HN2 got me multiple save file ruining glitches and felt largely boring to me, where puzzles were either painfully obvious, or I had literally no idea for ages. In terms of SN, I played it for 2h on steam, didn't understand or enjoy it, and refunded it because I didn't want to give them money and send the message that this was a good idea to make money (because at that point I was very invested in HN2 releasing as fast as possible)

also my experience with HN2 is significantly soured by lack of the promised AI as that is one of the main promises that got me interested in the whole series in the first place
