there were 5 players left and one of them had just finished unlocking the basement door, (it wasn't open but there weren't any locks left) so I killed them right before they could actually open it. I then turned the lights off hoping that no one would notice there weren't any locks left, and it worked

they fell out of my hand and could move but they were still in the process of dying
and they did die, but the game thought I was still holding them so I couldn't jump, grab, or even move really
