From a story perspective, Ted’s gloves were his work gloves, he used them for his work but work for him branches in all sort of ways, in a way it showed that he had stuff to do things he needed to do, now in HN3, he’s old and frail, nothing he must do, no one to get revenge, nothing to hide, nothing, just trying to live, he’s taken away that side of him.
