Currently, you had the trigger to activate the grapple and then the grip button to fire the grapple, and you can let go of the grip and only have to keep the trigger held down.

My suggestion is that when the grip button is not being held, only the trigger, the grapple line should stay at the same length.

That way it gives the player more control when it comes to grappling, instead of the player automatically being pulled towards the grapple point.

We're testing controls, looking at which ones are more comfortable
Sounds like a good solution, especially since the hook controls are a bit confusing right now
Anyway, in the future we'll put the option to alternate the hook controls so that people can use the one that is most comfortable for them

And keeping the trigger pressed wich is more comfortable right now, but you can actually control this pull

#

You can keep the grab grip amd release the trigger this will make the player not being pulled

Additionaly, using the grip for final grabbing makes it more consistent with the current climb system

I hope that this new change makes it easier for everyone

ik this is an old forum but i want to add something
make it so that instead of having to press the grip (or trigger, i forgot) button so that the zipline block appears slightly bigger, simply putting your hand in the direction of the zipline block makes it automatically appear slightly bigger

#

although im pretty sure you would do that anyway if the team decided that only one button is necessary for the zipline block instead of two

There are several Reasons on which we have deceided make this in this way using 2 buttons instead of 1

  1. Performance
since having to check every frame which block is closer may be a bit not too much performant

  2. Avoid accidental grappling shoot when punching or climbing
as we sill add more uses for the grappling hook in a future (like pulling blocks or enemies)
we mush avoid shooting the grappling hook every time you close your hand is for that we designed this in a way that need to press 2 buttons

  3. having a gun spawn button also let you show your gun o other players without need to have any grapplingable thing

Altough we will still thinking in alternatives, as soon as we thing a better alternative we will integrate it for sure
