Long story short, ministerial veto. When discussing a matter where we have say 3-4 choices, the relevant minister has a total veto on one of the choices. A good example from our game was Wehlen trade. The minister of Foreign Affairs practically forbade full OBT since our reputation would take too much of a hit, the choice and voting was reduced to partial or non at all. But you can of course use it the other way, the minister of foreign affairs thinks the trade deal is too good to pass up on and reduces our choice to full or partial OBT, no option to refuse the deal.

That’s for sure. With all due respect to Zysco, he was the guy that makes the choices, he needs to keep pinging the ministers, asking for their insight, before making a choice. Not talking for a week straight and then claiming “why did no one ping me” was an extremely weak defense. So yes, if @astral tendon wants to be just a passive observer, it won’t make sense, but if he feels up to any of the ministerial position, I think he’s better off trying his best as the president.

I mean, in our game, the president was rather meek. I had a personality of a naive idealist, so I let the cabinet make decisions and I merely asked a few questions about the options and broke up ties from time to time.

The system looked something like this, we start discussing a topic, so the less knowledgeable ministers (say the minister of law and justice doesn’t know shit about economy, so when discussing nationalization/privatization he just listens to whoever made the most convincing arguments) can make up their mind, we vote the next day. Usually until a quorum (4/7 ministers voting) and a majority is reached.

The rest is down to playing and addressing the issues that come up as they come up. I think.

Also it’s quite obvious, but don’t roleplay yourselves and act without hindsight? You don’t know what will cause capital flight. You don’t know what will Gloria demand, beyond what the reports say. You don’t know what will Clavin demand, beyond what the reports say. And so on.

I got up from my seat and strode up confidently to the podium among applauses and the campaign music. Today is the day I have always been waiting for all of my life to finally bring change to Sordland

I walked up towards the podium and shook Gloria’s hand. I readjusted the microphone and gripped both of my hands on the side of the podium. Looking at the USP party congress one final time that will determine Sordland’s future, I scanned the room to see fellow USP members who helped my rise in the USP. I will never forget their loyalty.

My fellow USP members together we have faced adversary throughout these tumultuous years especially with the end of Alphonso’s presidency; our country faces a crisis similar to the end of the monarchy not more than 30 decades ago, or the recent memory of the tragic Sordish Civil War which saw brothers against brothers and fathers against sons. Those were tragic days indeed which is why we cannot repeat the same mistakes that will make our fellow Sords suffer from poverty or death! People of Sordland!

Tonight, we gather not as factions, not as divided communities, but as one nation under the proud banner of Sordland! Our strength lies not in what separates us, but in what unites us: our soil, our history, our language, our faith in each other. Sordish nationalism is not about one group, or one class, or one region — it is about all of us rising together as one people. Only together, with a united Sordland, can we stand tall against the storms ahead.

But my friends, storms are coming. To the north, the empire of Rumburg sharpens its knives. They provoke, they scheme, they prepare for war. They believe that Sordland is weak. They believe that our proud nation can be bent and broken. They are wrong! To defend our homes, to defend our children, to defend our freedom, we must fund and strengthen the Sordish military! We must prepare for the day when Rumburg no longer threatens us with words, but with weapons. Only a strong army, armed and ready, can guarantee our peace.

Yet Rumburg’s attacks have already struck at the heart of our nation — not with soldiers, but with cowards and traitors. The Bludish Freedom Front, funded and armed by Rumburg, has poisoned the food of our children, murdered our citizens, and tried to tear apart our unity. Make no mistake: they are not freedom fighters. They are terrorists! And terrorists have no future in Sordland. We will crush them, root and stem, until the BFF is nothing more than a shameful memory in the ashes of history!

But to do this, we must also stand behind our police, our law enforcement, our guardians of the streets. Every officer must be given the resources to protect our towns, our villages, our families. There will be no corner of this nation where criminals or terrorists can hide. Law and order will be restored and maintained — with strength, with pride, with justice.

My people, some say the free market has failed us. They are wrong. The truth is that free enterprise — the spirit of hard work, innovation, and competition — is the only path to prosperity. When President Alphonso sought to free our economy through privatization, it was not his policies that failed. It was the Old Guard — clinging to their outdated chains — who sabotaged reforms, and dragged us into recession. We will not let them hold us back again! The free market will deliver growth, jobs, and higher standards of living for every Sordish citizen.

To achieve this, we must look outward as well as inward. Our neighbor Lespia is not only a friend of liberty, but a partner in prosperity. Together, we can open new opportunities for free trade, for investment, for shared defense. An alliance with Lespia is more than a choice — it is a shield against Rumburg, and a doorway to a brighter economic future.

But prosperity is not given — it must be built. Sordland has fertile soil, richer than anywhere in Eastern Morpoca. With state investment in agricultural technology, we can transform our fields into engines of abundance. We will feed ourselves, we will feed our neighbors — and Sordland will become the Bread Basket of all Eastern Morpoca!

And with bread must come roads — and rails — and airports. Productivity demands connectivity. That is why we will build more high-speed rails, starting with the great L-1 Rail, linking our people together faster than ever before. We will raise Benfi International Airport to greatness, opening the skies of Sordland to the world. With these projects, we will unleash our full economic power!

But national strength is not only about tanks or factories. It is also about unity. To the Bluds, I say this: you are Sordish citizens, and this is your homeland too. Through civic nationalism, through a shared language, through shared opportunity, we will integrate all of our people into one proud nation. No matter your background, if you call yourself Sordish, you are my brother, you are my sister, you are part of our future.

Yet none of this — not our security, not our prosperity, not our unity — can be achieved if our government is weak and paralyzed. That is why the executive branch must be strengthened. A strong president must have the power to defend the nation, to enact reforms, to defeat enemies within and enemies abroad. Division and delay will only doom us — strength and decisiveness will deliver us.

Sordland, the choice is clear: unity, strength, freedom, prosperity. We shall not be intimidated. We shall not be divided. We shall not be broken. We will rise, together, as one nation, one people, one destiny.

I will keep this brief as the situation demands we act instead of merely talk. Brothers and sisters of a United sordland, I will not lie to you, the situation is dire. The Rumburgian menace is at our throats, the disastrous free market reforms of Alphonso have sent us spiraling into a recession, and the BFF threat persists and grows in our rural regions. If I am elected as your president, I promise you we WILL work together to fix these issues. First, to address the ever growing threat from the BFF, we must declare an emergency! For too long these terrorists have been operating, even recently poisoning school children in Ribel! Rest assured, if I am your president, these traitors will be brought to justice. Second, to address Alphonso’s recession, Sollist planned/mixed economy is and always has been the way forward! While some of Soll’s policies requires some modernization, namely education and the EPA, he has laid the core concepts of our economy and we should not stray far. He has also paved the way for Sordish neutrality and we will use that to wield the superpowers against each other. Finally, and of course most importantly, the rumburgian threat lies in wait. As your president I will not neglect the defense of our nation as Alphonso has. We are very fortunate rumburg did not take advantage of that spineless oligarch, but I can guarantee it will not last forever. Sordland may have allies, but we MUST stand alone against rumburg to show the world we WILL NOT be influenced or bullied by ANY foreign power! A vote for me is for a United and Peaceful Sordland! I take the stand wearing my corporal's dress uniform rather than a suit. The Bluds won't be voting for me, the liberals are either voting PFJP or kept in line by Clavin, which left the nationalists to skim votes from. I hope.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Party and nation, I come to you with a solemn message, and a vision of hope.

Our young republic has been sorely tested in its short life, as we all well know. More tests will come, but the fires of struggle will reveal the gleaming steel that is our collective will. Empires new and old encroach, decades-old tensions flare up once more, and Sordland is pulled between new economic systems. We are beset on all sides, within and without, neighbor must suspect neighbor, students attend class with those they battle in the streets. But each of us shares one precious value, from Mr. Circas to President Alphonso, and from Mr. Leke to Mr. Kiberner: a deep love for our home, and a desire to see her prosper in our children's lifetimes and our own. I salute each of you, as well as my three opponents. May the people choose wisely.

Every step of the way, I have urged Alphonso not to pursue his privatization schemes. Our current dire straits are proof of his ineptitude and his favored system's innumerable failures. The free market and its invisible hand pick the pocket of the laborer to feed the already wealthy, but we are to praise it for efficiency? The roads you all traveled today were built by the SSC, with minerals mined by our own Nedam, at minimized cost to the taxpayer. Yet we are to believe introducing oligarchs to the mix would be more efficient. The planned economy of Tarquin Soll brought Sordland never before known prosperity, and it can once again. It had its flaws, as does every system. I make no claim of perfection. This hardly means the system should be discarded, but improved upon. As your leader, I will undo the disastrous reforms of the current administration and restore our economy to a well-oiled machine bringing prosperity to each and every citizen of Sordland.

A rare realm where Alphonso has shown some aptitude has been in foreign policy. He has improved upon the Sollist doctrine of armed neutrality, ended the Colonel's policy of staunch anti-monarchism in favor of true realpolitik, bringing us closer to nations such as Rizia. Indeed, the members of GRACE often align with our neutrality doctrine, and for that we should be friends, not enemies. That said, our neutrality is not always respected. With expansionist goals clear from our northern neighbor, Sordland faces the prospect of conflict once more. I am not a warmonger, I will never urge young boys to die for a rich man's war. But I will defend our nation to the last drop of my blood, and last breath in my lungs,
I pull aside the collar of my uniform, displaying a large burn scar
from enemies within and without.

Sordland will not be subjugated by power blocs, the new name for empires, but she can forge alliances with the like-minded to defend herself. We do not rely on allies alone however, as our military stands proud as one of the mightiest in Merkopa. Alphonso's reforms have shrunken its numbers and still we field nearly half a million troops. Our current forces still languish in outdated equipment and doctrine, which I aim to fix. Independence is not upheld with muskets and cavalry.

I am intimately familiar with both the Bludish struggle and the political violence in Sordland. I fought as a Young Sord decades ago, and against the Bludish Freedom Front during my military service. To the youth organizations, I say this: our nation is not one governed by force and street killings. If you want change for Sordland, it can come through debate and politics rather than from the barrel of a gun. Hone your skills of free thought and debate, and remember that every Young Sord and Red Youth is your neighbor, perhaps your friend or family. They are not some faceless boogeyman to be hunted down and killed. To the BFF and people of Bludia: you are heard. The terror must stop, as must the oppression sparking it. I beg of you, give me time and your faith. You will not be forgotten.

Great people of Sordland, I have little to offer you beyond blood, toil, tears, and sweat. You may ask, what is our policy? I will say it is to undo the mistakes of Alphonso, and break the entrenched status quo of Soll. You ask what is our aim? I can answer in one word: victory. Victory over those who would undermine our statehood,
