Yeah. Essentially, the college offered their 'own' SAT, which still qualified legally, but did not have the writing portion. I got in at the worst time, where the law switched over just as I was supposed to start, which required a certain 'score' for SAT, to qualify. Since I was missing 1/3 of the test, even if I had gotten a perfect score before, I would be disqualified.
