Itll probably be awhile, my project is essentially building a scanner for a very particular ecosystem, and progress has been going good so far. One key step was spinning up some automation for fetching known true positive CVEs to improve detection rates against. Luckily there was already a similar database I was able to query already.
If my project actually starts spitting out bugs like I hope, future work would involve taking the lessons learned and building similar ecosystem specific scanners, so the fact thats nearly exactly what your project involves will probably end up helping with that true positive collection phase.
But thats like months and months out from where Im at right now and I need this project to produce results before I start working on similar ones.

yeah I got really lucky that the cve set I needed ended up being much easier to fetch, its extra helpful when it also had direct links to downloads, so it was just a couple extra lines of code to go from 'Fetch all CVEs that fit these parameters and collect summaries into a text' to then downloading the exact version packages and giving me a complete map of which packages had which CVEs to begin analyzing
