pentesters rarely build malware if ever...

pentesting is all about exploitation and looking for common vulnerabilities to get access to systems you don't control

writing malware is all about staying in those systems and doing some nasty stuff like ransomware or persistence...

you're asking how to weaponize xss? that depends. are cookies http only? if not you can steal them. lets say they are. here are some ways to get account takeover via xss when you can't steal cookies

Options for ATO via xss when cookies are http only
None of these methods require the xss to be in the same place as the target interaction as the target page could be opened in a new window or iframed and accessed that way.

Cookie jar overflow -> session fixation:
If a site binds auth to the existing session cookie instead of issuing a new authenticated session. you can add a huge amount of cookies which will cause old ones to be deleted. meaning you can now replace them. this will log the user out. but again assuming session fixation, when they re-authenticated their account data will be bound to the known session and the attacker can authenticate with it

Email change or simmilar:
If any property in account settings can grant access to the account and does not prompt for the current password. an attacker can extract csrf tokens and use them to change said setting. Furthermore if the target site has a public user api for making changes to your account the token could be stolen and this could grant enough access to constitute ATO in and of itself even if the attacker can't log in via the web interface. Additionally in some cases the API may allow changing of properties like the email address even if the web interface to do so prompts for one

Oauth forced account linking:
even if an oauth implementation is otherwise secure. If xss is present anywhere on the target site the attacker can trigger the start of an ouath flow via the xss. send a request to their own attack server to show the payload has fired.send a request to the oauth provider from said server for link bound to their own account. serve this link and have the payload fetch it. extract the state token from the victims local storage and switch it into their own oauth link. open the new manipulated link in the victims browser. The attackers account on the oauth provider will now grant access to the victims account on the target website
