It's not worthless but generally it's hard to get in a company straight away with a pentesting role because as a company they'd probably have this though: "This person is relatively new to pentesting (no previous job experience in pentesting) and it would be hard to establish a trust for that reason"

So the usual path is finding an entry role in that company and then after sometime transferring to pentesting would be an easier path, by that time trust is there and you know about the company's internals more
