Last week, they took some blood for virus tests, and the nurse said "this will take time", refusing to tell me how long. I asked chatgpt, which said the PCR using the type of equipment hospitals use take 30-60minutes for the machine, but the processes (typing in the results into the system, etc.) means it will take 2,15 hours until the doctor calls me back in. And it took exactly that time actually. And the hospital staff found it impossible to tell me in advance how long it will take.

From drawing the blood it takes ~1 minute until the samples are in the lab (pneumatic tube system) which makes it even weirder where does all that time go.

I don't think respect is either earned or given, not really. It's subjective and proportionate to the eye of the beholder and how much information they have about the person. There's a baseline level of respect that all humans should have toward one another which is something like "we could kill each other" and then all other respect-values are dynamically calculated based on perception and Knowledge acquisition. For example maybe there's some super normal average looking and seeming person, then it turns out they're an expert at a skill you admire - your respect for them has a big increase automatically; you don't give it, nor do they earn it in that moment.
