I can't believe I have to say this, but: guys, be nice to each other and respectful of other people, other industries and other platforms.
It doesn't matter one bit if you are learning from Try Hack Me, The Cyber Mentor, The Many Hats Club, Offensive Security, Hack The Box, eLearnSecutiry, SANS or any of the other countless places, as long as you're progressing and you're happy with the content and decision.
We're in this industry together and we need to co-exist together. Even if HTB may cater to more experienced players than some of the other platforms do, you yourself are not at all experienced if you do not recognize that all pieces have a very specific place in the puzzle. Elitism is a bad trait, never makes you look strong and never contributes to anything but bad vibes and arguments. Please be respectful of one-another, recognize that some platforms cater to a different audience than your favorite platform may do and know that this is fine.

#810215951017443378 is experiencing some flag issues due to an on-going DDoS attack on Hack The Box. Hackers ruining the evening for other hackers. Ironic.
We believe the root cause of this was due to an ongoing and sizable DDoS attack while we were deploying, meaning certain tasks did not fire correctly. While our checks in post delpoyment didn't raise any issues, obviously some labs were not checked.
We're proceeding with triggering a fresh rotation of Free/VIP, and will be redeploying the release lab to trigger a rotation there too.

For those wondering a relatively small amount of Discord user accounts were used to spam a #774038216239349820 and #modules tonight, pinging multiple people and dropping links to the "raid" service. All ~70 accounts have been banned, and the channels have been opened back up again. Due to the entirely manageable size of the "raid" we decided against locking the affected channels and instead just went spring cleaning. 🙂

In the attempts to better help everyone get the right help that they need, I've implemented a <@&861185840277487616> role and made all moderator roles "unpingable". Obviously don't ping the <@&861185840277487616> role to have a box reset or if your VPN doesn't work, I suppose that goes without saying, but please feel free to use it if somebody is breaking the rules and you believe immediate action must be taken.
While it's still possible to ping the Administrator role (as per Discord design...), doing so for any other reasons than those you would use for <@&861185840277487616> may result in a slap on the wrist, similar to misuse of the other role.
Remember, Discord staff are Discord staff and typically do not have any powers to help you in HTB. If you need help with the platform, try asking in the #613049811481919508 channel or visit https://help.hackthebox.eu/

If you see a Steam trade offer link or any other link that seems out of place, please reach out to a moderator or admin so we can have a closer look. The last person banned tried to phish with a domain name very similar to the real one, "stearncormmunity". If you are not paranoid by nature you may accidentally click the link and fall into the trap.
Help others stay safe and reach out to a moderator or admin if you think something smells fishy. Given that this is an InfoSec server, most likely it is fishy. Or phishy...

But don't worry. Unlike real Advanced Persistent Threats, ours are the good guys. Our "Frequent Flyers" if you like. A long-time wish from the community has been to have open voice chats that do not require a moderator to be present at all time, and we have decided to try it out. To ensure that the quality of the voice chats is of somewhat decent standard, the access will be split into two tiers: the regular tier and the APT tier:
- Regular members are able to join, but unable to use voice activation and unable to stream content.
- Members with the APT role will gain access to voice activation and the ability to stream content. The requirements and perks of the new role can be seen below:
# APT Role Perks
- Unrestricted VC Access
- Able to stream, use video camera, and use voice activation to speak.
# Requirements
- Three month Discord membership requirement
- Message count greater than 1000
- No current warnings or strikes
In the near future it will be possible to get the role by typing ++join APT in the #bot-commands channel. For the time being however - the feature needs to be implemented - feel free to drop me a DM if you check off all the requirements, and I will add the role to you by hand.
Please note that misuse is a great way to lose the perks again, or worse... *looks at all the Harambe fans *
