Just having all the wled instances connect to a router on a dedicated network that the laptop is connected to and then add those ips into xlights

Oops didn't have notifications on, sorry! Gray is right, I ran ethernet capable ESP32 modules to a dedicated network. You then set up your controllers in xlights to the proper IP and controller type (WLED). For multiple pins of data like I used, xlights will send the first channel to whichever pin you declared first in your wled setup and so on. There are many good videos on the subject, don't get discouraged if it's not obvious. I'm not formally trained in any of this and there was definitely some friction.
