So this is sort of a v2 of the project I worked on last year, I optimized my controller deployment (made json configs for all to easily dump and replace) and cleaned up some wiring etc.

All using ESP32 in 3D printed cases.
Using 3 wire waterproof auto connectors to connect to the LEDs.

Most of the drums have a strip of BTF ws2812 5v LEDs inside them with a small cable coming out. One of the types of drums we had to go external as you’ll see in pics/videos.

I power each drum with a small usb battery pack (eventually I may look into making these have their own battery to be easier)

Controlling them via surface pro 5 and a unifi express, using a midi controller and avolites to control colors and patterns using the pixel mapper. I was basically playing along to the songs and changing patterns on the beat.

This is all done for the band my wife is part of: Batala, the DC chapter of it. Was a labor of love (hoping to get supplies reimbursed tho!) and I’m excited we have a show in Baltimore with them soon too.

Happy to answer any questions, I love WLED, just got my Halloween lights up too!

so you sync them wirelessly, but each drum has it's own ESP32 with a microphone?

i have control over each drum's dimmer and red green blue overall, so i can pick types of drums and solo them, one of videos in original post shows i do 2 drums in middle, then 4, then they all come in white, thats 3 different cues in my lighting software
