I'd argue Halo 3 and Reach era Spartans were the best they offered in their line, especially with regards to articulation. Generally their figures were beautiful aesthetic wise, though their pursuit of accuracy sacrificed posability (at times there were QC issues in some of their series...).
Their Halo 4 and 5 figures definitely looked great. but their approach to Gen 2 armor made the figures very lackluster...

I'm pleased enough with the stuff Jazwares/WCT has been putting out. At the very least I don't think I have to worry about joints crumbling on me.
Plus they don't have horribly designed hip joints.

Late Halo 3 and many Halo Reach Spartans had great articulation
this is a bit dated since i bought a lot more since then
I know the Halo 4 and 5 lines were not as great especially since articulation was incredibly limited. Beautifully sculpted and painted mind you, but McFarlane Toys has in my eyes always prioritized aesthetics over function
though there were some lines that faced significant quality control issues
Early Halo 3 brute figures had very delicate wrist joints and would break rather quickly with play, same with some of the early Halo 3 spartans and sometimes elites; the plastic used for the hands were rather weak, so reinforcing them with a metal pin helped

Most of my griping with McFarlane Toys figures just comes down to the hip joints on the Halo 5 figures because they're just really awkwardly sculpted and kinda limiting.
I'm not a huge fan of the materials used either but the sculpt and paintwork is generally really good

My collection is rather diverse, honestly QC for mcfarlane toys is high in my books
I have a lot of hasbro figures of the star wars line, few neca figs here and there, a lot of japanese figure brands (figma, revoltech, square enix bring arts, bandai, kotobukiya, etc)
if anything, i do love the double jointed articulation in jazwares, helps with making more poses

McFarlane's QC seems to have been pretty alright as far as the figures I have go. One of the knees on my Chief figure has some odd molding defect but otherwise they seem... fine.
I do like the double joints in Jazwares' figures but I'm not big on how far apart the joints are placed in some spots. Makes for some rather unnatural looking bends.

You know, one thing I wish Jazwares would do is what Joyride did when they were making Halo stuff and do Vehicles in normal packs but they would include mini figures so you would get a Warthog with 3 mini figures

Jazwares is not cutting corners, they don't have the same detail process as Mcfarlane.
Jazwares toys are actually toys where Mcfarlane was more of collectibles that struggled to be flexible and moveable.

Yeah, the UNSC insignia in Halo 4/5 has some pretty significant changes from the old Bungie-era insignia.
It's been redesigned again to more closely resemble the old emblem for Infinite, though it still has a few subtle changes.

IMO the jazzware toys have a lot of issues, but overalll I really like them. Especially the word of halo ones, I treat them like model kits so they need a little work too put into them. World of halo is definitely, paint wise, the better series. But the Spartan collection has a lot of potential. If jazzwears starts making more money from these figures I can see them getting amazing down the line

For personal purposes you could use a rigged game model in blender and print it
you'd have to paint it yourself but you might be able to bake the details into it and get a half decent figure

You could if you really wanted to. First run isn’t awful, just can be a little more annoying at times. Other options you could try to wait for are the series 3 release with the Grappleshot accessory or the GameStop 20th Annicersary 2-pack version.

The amount of work needed for thats gonna not be worth it, Airsoft rifles need bracing and metal barrels for the most part to handle the pressure. Nerf rifles arent exactly sturdy, and tend to be hollow on the inside to fit the springs.
