in a skunkworks site
like related to the mantis
yeah it was more mech-y
It was part of the development lineage that eventually led to the Mantis, yeah
in fall of reach it describes some prototype armour that had to be plugged into a big fusion generator
so was practically useless in battle
yeah
and was used to stop training personnel getting obliterated by spartan IIs
the mk-IV was the first power armour to be used i believe
at least in combat
the other iterations of the mk armour were powered by a wireless power station somewhere
because they were so power intensive
the mk4 went great for samuel
the mk IV integrated a power plant
The first three iterations of Project MJOLNIR are only tangentially related to Mk.IV-onwards.
Kinda the same situation as how SPARTAN-II was related to ORION. Kind of a successor conceptually but otherwise basically a reinvention.
yupp
orion sucked
though project orion was a big retcon too xD
which they excused as ONI obfuscation
which was fair enough
johnson was orion right
yup
Yes
thats why he wasnt infected by the flood
So basically ODST = Poor man's Spartans
in installation 04
In very early canon, yes, later on his "Flood immunity" was retconned.
they first said he wasn't infected bc of a rare condition from being exposed to plasma grenade radiation (in first strike, the book between halo ce and 2)
which was then changed to project orion/"spartan I"
ok
which ofc ONI told everyone was a plasma explosion ;;))
his nervous system was so messed up the flood couldnt infect him
thats kinda metal
Bungie's writing staff didn't like the idea that his ORION augmentations which were covered up as Boren's syndrome could make him immune, so it was eventually changed to him being really good at escaping from the Flood.
oh did it get retconned again?
haha nice
even though the cutscene definitely shows him go down 🤔
it was probably like a CE visual glitch or something
unless it was also retconned
Nah, it was probably more just to do with Bungie only really planning for Halo to just be one game.
yeah
actually
i think they originally intended for halo 2 to be the end of the franchise
That was the plan once 2 was put into production.
the ending of halo ce just asks for a sequel i dont think it was suposed to be just one game
Most of the stuff in 3 was basically cut from 2's original plan and stretched into a whole separate campaign.
aight I ought to head to bed, this was fun though ^_^ I love nerding out about lore
nice to have a talk that isn't just slagging off infinite
Mk VII is nice, change my mind
I thought Infinite’s Mk.VII GEN3 was a bit boring and lacking in identity at first but it’s grown on me.
Still kinda miss the look of all the GEN2 stuff though.
it was more or less Spartan = Rich man's ODST
So... with Cortana out of the picture, who's now in charge of The Created? Or did she not think that far in advance?
There’s still the Warden
warden eternal 😟
What do you think the odds are there was a massive rewrite for Halo 5? Sorry if im beating a dead horse but the story we got was so different from what the advertisement campaign for it suggested it would be
it would solve the mystery of the existence of other universes (not really but it does solve all our energy crisis so that's neat)
But fr tho, don't there's gonna be a change to the story
yeah there had to be
I was more thinking about how the "Locke v Chief", "Chief going rouge" plot points were blown completely out of proportion, how the devs apparently said perspective was going to be an important theme in the plot ie both teams would perceive certain events differently(which was the whole point of the Chief, Locke trailers), how it retconned the "present day" scenes in halo 2 anniversary edition etc. I admit the last point is a very minor one
Good
That scene in h2a was a free spoiler that was put in there for whatever reason
Starting to think what if the Arbiter listen to the Heretic Leader instead of killing him lol
The Great Schism would still happen I think, but the Elites would be in a better position
Doubtful
The other elites hated arbiter
They needed to see their brethren slain to see the arbiter was right
Or the Heretic Leader should have sent a message directly to Xytan 'Jar Wattinree. The guy had an even bigger reputation than Thel. I wonder was his death fortunate or unfortunate
Not turning everyone, especially the most devout elites would have been hard, but I think he would’ve instilled heavy doubt across a lot of other elites, enough to either make Truth jump his plan, or make some elites weary enough to be more ready for the brutes turning on them
I mean if thel convince rtas that the great journey is a lie then maybe he can turn the most devoted elites
Keep in mind how divided and widespread the Covenant is tho
Sesa: I could try to contact the banished....
There would be a lot of elites across space who may not get the message, may not have connections to Rtas or Thel(despite how famed they are).
Yeah for example quite a few of Juls lot came from worlds that hadnt received word that the war had ended let along about the schism
So a good thing to think about is how fast word would spread across the species and what they’d all think of it
At the very least a small portion of the Covenant may defect against the prophets, centered around the Fleet of Retribution
Or wait, I think the Fleet of Retribution was only formed during the Great Schism
Actually why didnt Sesa include a recording of Guilty spark outlining what the Halo array did? That would have gotten his message across
Well halopedia said that the fleet of retribution broke off when the great schism began
There may have been a recording onboard his fighter or something, but it was lost with Threshold
Well at the very least they’d have an even smaller group made of Sesa’s troops and however many Rtas commanded at that time
Is the Rubicon Protocol currently the only upcoming novel at the moment? How are the authors(Kelly Gay) other books?
Her work has been pretty solid, at least from what I’ve read. Smoke and Shadow was an enjoyable read, if a bit short. Still need to get to Renegades and Point of Light, but I’ve generally heard good things about them.
it wasn’t until Truth ordered for the Elites to be killed that they realized the Great Journey was a lie
so either Rtas or Tartarus would’ve been ordered to kill him/just killed him on their own accord
It actually wasn't until some time during did they discover it was a lie. Initially, the Elites begun the Great Schism with the objective of cleansing the Covenant still believing in the Journey. It wasn't until a fair way into the battle did they discover it was a lie thanks to the Arbiter
🧱
They still believed in the Journey at the start, only wanting to remove the Jiralhanae, as they were not yet aware the San'Shyuum betrayed them as well
@astral mason
Yes infinity
I know a good amount of the lore
Just finished halo reach and loved it so much
But I want to know what happened to all the guns and enemies introduced in reach
they weren’t in ce
And I’d like a canon reason
I don’t think there’s ever an explanation for that
She was badly hurt, technically dead. She was a in a cryopod
Did they resuscitate her
@near tide Linda, it was Linda
So she was so badly wounded they declared her dead
Ye
Aha. I knew I wasn’t remembering properly
And did the covenant attack the pillar because they were tracking Cortana after her departure from reach
In the anniversary addition you can see her as an Easter egg in the cryo room as a vitals display
cuz I know that the unsc was in a similar position to how they are in infinite
@astral mason no, they did follow the POA, but arrived at halo long before the POA itself did
Broken
A covenant fleet was at the ring and saw the autumn
A second fleet I think followed the autumn from reach too
i think somewhere it was just that brutes drones skirmishers etc werent on the ships that chased the autumn like werent assigned but that might not be right
but didn’t the covenant deploy to reach
Yes, the Covenant does have multiple fleets
was it the Fleet of particular justice that chased and engaged the autumn?
or not i forgot
It was arbys fleet
If, according to holland, 65% of the unsc fleet was sent to reach, then how did the covenant win if they had their forces occupying the first halo ring?
Thel 'Vadam(the arbiter) led the fleets in the battle of Reach. When the POA fled, he took his own fleet, part of thr larger one, and gave chase
Thr other fleets remained at reach to clean up
Covenant has a massive amount of ships
Did the covenant just have more forces than the unsc?
Way more
Thousands more
Then how the hell did chief tear through them like a monster
is he that much of a beast
Tear through what?
The Covenant as a civilization was 3400 years old
it was the Fleet of particular justice thats what its called
•_•
Didn't really tear through them, just used gorilla warfare
It was a fraction of the covenant forces that were actually on the ring
Mhm
Plus chief is stronk
True
i mean he didnt fight like every single ship or soldier just where he needed to be
Strong*
Another question for you godly lore experts
The covenant also had a planet that literally was a massive ship
Yeah, the Covenant at halo didn't consider the chief a massive threat, until the raid on the Truth and Reconciliation
where did halsey go after evacuations were undergone on reach and new Alexandria AND how did the covenant not find the secret passage at the ONI base noble team was dispatched to
Idk honestly
I think she hid under sword base
She and the other spartan 2s were eventually rescued by Chief and the other survivors from Halo
castle base if im not mistaken they just chilled there until i think john or something rescued them after halo ce
there were back passages out of sword base. i htink old mineshafts
Oh yeah castle
It was sword base
Hid and cautiously fought the covenant
just hid i think because the surface got glassed idrk honestly
trust me, I finished reach less than 9 hours ago
During the fall of reach halsley and June went to a secret base to hide
Halsey hid under castle
SWORD BASE
Although she was in sword at first
Pretty sure
Lore between reach and the books is a bit weird
Ya
Yeah, Bungie didn't care much for EU lore like books
Really best to start in release date
I’m doing a whole playthrough of the halo saga
So Fall of Reach
I love this one called a fist full of arrows but it isn’t canon yet so :/
I need books for the eras of reach’s fall and infinite/guardians
That was a good fan comic
I haven’t touched 2-3
man i thought that would've worked
Gives good backstory
Who is the younger San shyum that narrates the Halo 2 terminals
but yeah sword got pooped on and destroyed so she ran to castle base
A random scribe
I got another question for y’all cool mens
Hm?
speak
Yes speak
Talk
I’m typing
vocalize
Give him a minute
Patience is key
==••==••
ONI HQ was evac’d right?
where did they resettle
after reach’s fall
and who the hell shot kat
Damn needler round
good question and the field marshal killed kat
Btw Craig is probably Canon
i think
She didn’t have her shield on
But don’t elites hate jackals
I know from the glassing beam
He is
Noble team have kinda ironic/poetic deaths
grunts hate jackals and vice versa elites are indifferent i think
Earth mostly, and a Sangheili Field Marshal(possibly the same from the first level) shot Kat
Go to the top of the tower on Zeta halo
Lone wolf dies alone
Brains of the operation is shot in the head
Smart girl gets headshot
Or is he MIA
Yes
He's dead
Leader goes down with his ship
Creepy knife guy gets stabbed
Melee man dies to an energy sword
We know
Sneaky sniper disappears
I’ve heard this all already
In halo infinite, no one knows if Huns alive or not
Demolitions expert blows up lol
SPOILER ALERT
and jun the ghost disappears
IF NO CAMPAING PLAYED YET DONT RED
Huns?
Nah Jun last we know is alive, was in charge of the spartan 4s later
JUN
Oh
Huns, member of red team
He probably is
led by legendary mister chief
Like living on earth
Jen 177
the space station gets blown up by its AI
In the northern hemisphere
prayin juns alive
Same
Is it just me, or does reach seem scarily similar to rogue one?
Not really
Seriously during every attack on earth (that I know of) only southern Africa and Sydney were attacked
I mean it does kinda
soldiers going on a mission to deliver an important asset to save the galaxy
And they all die
Everyone dies
😶
All the main guys
Yeah
I like the feeling of reach and rogue one
I mean a suicide mission with the members being elite and dying off one by one isn’t that uncommon a trope
But I love last stands and such
Reach is a great game
Que the halsley ending after Death Star blows up planet
Ya
can anyone answer me a important question
?
Possibly
Ado
Hm?
They should make a Halo infinite campaign where they finds his old armor and re tells the tales of previous arbiters to younger sangheli and it's basically the Halo 2 terminals but you actually play as the arbiters in Thoes sceneries like during the taming of the hunters and grunt rebellion and stuff
Can I request more lore
Ado is the lore master
Dlc
Read fist full of arrows
I can answer what questions I can, but I would recommend looking over at Halopedia
Online
ooh ok
It’s good
It has all the known lore properly categorized
Was Locke at ONI hq when the attack happened
No
No
Where was he
Elsewhere
but WHERE.
Implied to either be on Zeta or another mission elsewhere
No he was on infinity
I’m hoping he’s on Zeta. I wouldn’t mind a dlc with him
Yes, the location of Halo: Infinite
When it was attacked
how?
He survived
Guys I'ma start grave mind on laso and I'll tell u when I die
But was defeated by hyperious and tavorious
no like how was he on zeta halo during reach
he was on something called operation breaker trip but we literally dont know anything about where or what it is
@astral mason he wasn't during Reach
WHAT ARE U TALKING ABOUT @astral mason
Ooooooooo
Easy there Cash
who locke?
sorry for not being specific
You never specified that
Halo 5
@sullen grotto the main protag from halo 5
ONI
Oni
there you go
yeah ik i just didnt know if they were talking about him
Ah ok
Gosh auto correct
not a spartan. probably a low level oni agent
Likely writing up a report on why they oughta kill Thel
Are ONI agents Spartans? Or was Locke just fit for hunting chief
He made a bio for him
he became a spartan
Like in infinite
With augmentations?
Yes
Aug
in halo nightfall he was not then in halo 5 he volunteered to be one
Spartan IVs can be pulled from any branch of the UNSC, but he was an ONI agent before being added to the program
During the Fall of Reach, we do not know where Locke was, but he did at the time make a profile on Thel 'Vadam and recommended his assassination
or was chosen i forgot
so they’re like assassins trained similarly to black widows
Chosen and he agreed
I can’t stop getting lore
@astral mason at the time he was just an ONI agent
Nah your fine
i am not
Ok good
No it fuels me
•_•
rubbin my hands in anticipation rn
How did lasky get infected? Didn’t we rescue him from the covenant cruiser
infected?
flood
All good
oh yeah keyes he got f' d
But didn’t we rescue him
He was infected because after you rescue him he leads a mission into a supposed covenant armory, which in reality was a locked down flood facility
he went to the 343 guilty spark level, flood saw he had too much knowledge to be a combat form so they stuck him in the proto gravemind
Oh
thats why he was back on the truth and reconciliation which was taken over by the flood
She was on the control room of halo
^
I see
got all da knowledge
Couldn’t she have just blown it up from there
They didn't take his neural link, chief did
Or did the index have everything
chief ripped it out of his head
Chief I meant chief
She couldn't do anything besides watch Chief
The halos don’t seem to possess a self destruct function either
that's why we punched keyes in the face
If they did, Spark likely took all precautions to block it from Cortana
I love how chief mentions Keyes in halo infinite
When
It shows he cares
i literally gasped when i heard keyes
Cared
As she said herself, "ive spent the last 12 hours couped up in here, watching you toady about, helping that thing(spark) get set to slit our throats"
In halo infinite in a mission
It shows that chief still remembers him and cared
one of the forerunner levels the weapon asks who the echo was and chief tells her it was "captain jacob keyes" "died on the first ring we found" or something like that
Didn’t mention how doe
Well I don’t think they wanted to elaborate considering the weapon didn’t know about the flood
Pretty much
yeah he didnt say how he died
Ya ya I know
the weapon my beloved
•_•
dollar store Cortana
Huh......oook
ado
Hm?
can I friend you
also does it bug anyone else that alpha halo is 04 and not 01 like alphabetical order
…
Can I friend YOU, cash?
Sure
sure
Heh
I literally screamed at the legendary ending
When he said defensive bias I got goosebump
@terse lava Is it true that chief’s armor…. Jerks him off
literally went 👁️ 👁️ but in the good way
It’s in the comics ok?!
@astral mason no, it's not
I need to know if it’s canon
Uhhhhh
ok good
Comics!?!?!??!?!?
Chill
harbinger?
Bro really forgot the last bosses name.💀
To defeat her
That’s how forgettable she is
might be offensive bias since it was deployed to seal the endless away
escharum felt like more of a final boss than that floating salamander
😭 😭
true tho
i hope we dont kill atriox soon
want him to be a staple of the series as a villain
I think there should be an odst dlc
honestly loved seeing chief get his snot rocked by atriox
They mention there are helljumpers in audio logs
We needed to see it
we need to be reminded that chief can be beaten
yup
That he’s human
people always want him to be like god or something and never be beaten
but hes just a spartan
Bro he got thrown around like a doll
Doomguy style
Who would win doom guy or chief
How much does the mjolnir suit weigh? 2000 pounds?
i think like 990 something
hm
Doomguy. Hate to say it but he’s a literal god creature
if you want the realistic answer
probably doomguy hes just so strong
Chief would put up a great fight but he’d lose
whoever that va is they're awesome
I need more reach content
season 1 is amazing but I need some sort of return to reach type stuff
give us a cinematic
for s2
i recently got the battle pass so im only like level 5 or something 😭 in infinite if thats what ur referring to
ive been grinding the campaign
It’s so hard to lvl up
a few times
I hate micro transactions
i did like 5 challenges and somehow leveled up 2 levels
well more like 1 and a 1/8
but
yk
Back to lore?
go for it
also i just noticed how close in name rtas vadum and thel vadam are ok go ahead
Time to summon the lord Zealot Ado
😭 😭 😭
@terse lava
I HATE AUTOCORRECT
armpit
Ah yes
yo
😢
What's up
Hm?
I hate myself
Yes?
What is ur guys favorite halo lore
Noble team so far
It got glasses
Glassed
with basically 95 percent of reach
Hiroshima-style?
yeah
Damn
@astral mason was eventually rebuilt
so who glassed reach
Woah changed name
new new alexandria
covenant?
Farther
Yes the Covenant glassed thr city
in infinite its like 2560 something but that was all of infinite
It looks but I full
so you’re saying the reach epilogue that far in the future
That the current game is 20 years away
It looks gorgeous
I think he took off following the Autumn before they got deep into the glassing tho
2589@astral mason
Although the major cities were glassed first before the Autumn took off
i mean in h2a it showed reach ablaze when his fleet broke off and chased the autumn
Where the heck did you come from@fast falcon
And he is still kickin butt
probably not he probably died in battle
hes in his 40s i thought now
I genuinely believe that the death of master chief will be the biggest event in gaming history
John was born in 2511
or even 50s
49
I doubt they’d ever attempt to actually kill John
They will
They have too eventually as his VA is getting old
what’s a VA
Like I mean kill off and keep him dead for good
Voice actor
Imagine getting ur whole fleet destroyed by one man
Yep
he sounds and looks like he’s 40 tho
Indeed
Agreed
Agreeing Elite Noises
the day steve downes dies is the day i i dont even know
Wort
wort wort wort
wort wort wort
Both
gruntys
Sangheili
Idc both
Fine
I choose elites
Grelite
cringe
Grelitew
Choose grunts or elites
the unggoy is where its at
Elites are cooler, Grunts are more iconic imo
jeopardy theme
Would love to see a lasting Grunt character tho
Like a wisecracking Grunt Mule who follows you into battle and carries extra guns
omg
grunt mule marines
Grunts are funny but elites are cool
someone make that a mod
We need friendly grunts
Grunt backstory is sad
sometimes i feel so bad about killing grunts i leave like one alive
and just bilt
bolt
Same
We were to have them in halo 3, but Bungie was worried players would get confused in the heat of combat
I want a Swords of Sanghelios dlc so we can get like an alien version of a FOB with grunt troops who can follow you
Thus why only Sangheili
Just give them different designs and turn off ff
Tell that to Bungie
in halo 2 you have friendly grunts when playing as arby
For a while I actually wondered what John thought about most Grunts being child soldiers, but then again so was he
zamn
Sure like they’ll listen, they gotta add more loot boxes to destiny 3 when it comes out
Don't think they are child soldiers, they just age faster than humans
The covanentwere so menacing and we’re so fleshed out
getting punched by a grunt must hurt so f rucking much
An Unggoy teen in a post war book was 8 if I recall
Eh, still prefer halo 2'd track
I came in my pants when the guitar riffs played during nightfall
I have yet to play h2
Bro the halo odst music doe
I only played the first mission
Halo reach and odst are soooooo good
Please don’t talk about h2 or 3/odst as long as I’m around
For the dumpater fire of development it went through, Halo 2 is pretty good
I only know that Johnson dies
Not in halo 2
I know
All I'll say
Bro odst music is fire🔥🔥🔥
H3 he dies to one of the monitors
Reading about the development behind CE and 2 always makes me question how Bungie ever managed to ship a functioning product.
Halo infinite monitor turned on us
rip despondent pyre
To be fair chief was planning on destroying his tower
Yeah
But still
I hope we see Exuberant Witness again
She was lame
I hope we see mendicant byus
Wait no
Thx
Welcome
Cya cash
Ditto
I’m gonna do an all nighter
Midnight for me
2 am for me too
Bye
cya
You bet I will
Why did Keyes have a chip in his brain
actually don't know
probably for smarts and crap idrk
Just a standard thing for UNSC personnel.
Oh
Everyone from Marines to Spartans has a neural implant that serves a variety of functions.
ah yeah thats why chief took it so the flood course find earth by learning how to fly ships
Chief needed Keyes’ CNI specifically so Cortana could override some things on the Pillar of Autumn.
I love halo
Why did chief stay in cryosleep while reach was literally getting taken over
Didn’t they need him
He woulda saved them all
How did the flood on Delta Halo not starve if they were locked away for thousands of years with only sentinels being in the library complex Besides the flood
Yeah how
They needed to get out of the system ASAP. One Spartan wouldn’t have done much against a Covenant invasion fleet of 300+ ships.
@astral mason he wasn't in cryo, he was in space fighting on an orbital station
Then why didn’t they redeploy him to reach
probably wildlife im guessing because the funny gravemind used tentacles in that one lake
uh oh convoluted lore moment
His orders, he had most Spartans sent groundsidrz he and the others helped in space
He was on the station to deal with nav data that hadn’t been wiped in violation of the Cole Protocol.
@sullen grotto how
Wait chief ordered them to stay and the others to help at reach?
Yes, he had to divide his forces
By the time John had wrapped it all up, one Spartan was lost to space and another was clinically dead, and he would’ve been too late to do anything for Reach.
Is cole protocol some sort of torch and burn protocol
Yeah but it's basically just biomass and it's not very efficient either given nothing goes in or out within like a 5km radius
if i remember the correctly the fall of reach and reach reach clash with where John was
oh boy here we go
@sullen grotto not at all thankfully, the chief in cryo shown in Reach is purely an eastrr egg
It’s a set of regulations meant to delay the Covenant’s advance through human space.
Like you can see the Sheild wall on the level regret
I see
Stuff like clearing navigation data and making random slipspace jumps when escaping to obfuscate the locations of Earth and the other Inner Colonies.
So it’s like throwing the covenant off course by destroying their path
Ok but what if humanity surrendered and joined th covenant
we were never offered
It's denying them information to locate other worlds
thats why the covenant followed the autumn cortana put in coordinates thay werent random and covie slipspace is usually faster or was faster in this case thats why the they met the covenant at alpha halo
Not possible, thr covenant hate humans
I know humanity tried to make peace but other species desecrated forerunner artifacts or were hated by the covenant and are still in like the hunters or grunts
I think the drones too maybe
the word reclaimer was mistranslated as reclamation and humans are reclaimers, the prophets didnt want to admit lies and mistakes so they basically started the human covenant war because of it
None of the members of the covenant joined peacefully
Even some splinter groups accepted humans and rebels
Humanity’s status as Reclaimers screws up Covenant beliefs to their very core. It just straight up wouldn’t work out.
the san shyuum and the sangheili created the covenant after they fought a war, signing i think its called the writ of union? forming the covenant
They could lie saying humans are evolved forerunners
That… wouldn’t do anything to help matters.
@indigo ingot the reason humamsnare not offered a place was because a fragment of a Forerummer AI Mendicant Bias, after receiving data from the soon to be Hierarchs, Rgret Truth, And Mercy, claimed humans were forerunnera. This flew in the face of the Covenant's faith, which claimed all who believed in the Great Journey would ascend to godhood when the halos were activated
that would put the prophets out of power because the whole religion was basically "omg forerunners so poggers"
The three kept it a secret from the masses and declared war
Ok but the covenant would have a wet dream if the forerunners joined them
The whole core belief of the Covenant was that the Forerunners ascended to some higher plane of existence via the Great Journey initiated by the Halo Array. To call humanity “evolved” Forerunners would imply that some were left behind, which just isn’t compatible with the Covenant’s misinterpretation of the Great Journey.
Yep
Yeah
Forerunners were botched by 343
If the Covenant was made aware of that, it would fragment
Just to make a new enemy type
@astral mason no, bungie
what no
Bungie did that
Bungie made them a mystery
I’ll play it and see
So jul m'dama's covenant couldn't believe their eyes when they found the didact
Ado do you play on pc or Xbox
Jul’s Covenant doesn’t quite maintain the same set of beliefs as the original.
In CE and 2, they are implied to be humans, but Bungie in h3 were split on the idea, ultimately setting them as aliens
Oh
Do u play pc or Xbox?
Yep, 343 just went with it after
I know that but most of them have the same general belief by worshipping the forerunne
Eh don't play so much these days
can we play reach firefight if you’re down
Sadly have to pass on that, but I thank you for the offer
Then again jul phrased the artifacts on requiem as the treasures of the forerunners as if he was a jackal
In the terminal
Not really. You can read the terminals as them being humans and that 343 quote at the end is pretty blatant. Wasnt retconned until the forerunner books if I recall
Well, yeah, Jul doesn’t really care about the hokey religious stuff surrounding the Forerunners.
You’re fine
He just knows their technology is powerful and would be very useful in his crusade against humanity.
@opal gazelle the librarian in the terminals addresses humans as a separate race, along with the halo 3 marketing campaign, IRIS, and the comic that showed humans as your typical hunter gatherer
juls covies are basically a cult more than covies
Still the covenant
In name alone
yeah
they actually dont. I went through them and it could be read as her indexing other forerunners or it could be some other alien race and "theyre special" is more out of a respect for life
You'd have to do some pretty good stretching for that
Not really, the Terminals dont give many details
I Believe the first mention of Halsey in game was Halo 3 odst in oni alpha base where there is a reach memorial and there's a plaque that says something along the lines of Catherine Halsey was one of oni's top scientists and was a major contributor to the Spartan program, she was last seen on reach and has not been found and is beloved to be dead, may she rest in peace 2492-2552
I know its oni
Help me understand the various different UNSC cruiser types
So there’s the Paris-class frigate, which I believe the rest follow in form/shape.
The ones above Reach during the Sabre mission I believe are Paris-class frigates
The one crashed on Zeta Halo next to Outpost Tremonious I believe is also the same type
Yep
Not sure
I believe it might be the Stalwart-class
I disagree with this, it was always framed that humans were the inheritors of it all, not the forerunners
In the CE novelisation especially
Which I'm pretty sure came out with or even before CE?
*checked and it came out in 03, sorry
But definitely under bungie
On the subject of the forerunners, who exactly are the Endless?
I picked up what I could from the audio logs in the various beacons and listened to them in order, but they’re cryptic.
They're a race that somehow survived the halo firing
So during the forerunner's cleaning up and repopulation of the galaxy they found them alive and kinda pissed off
Because their survival might have meant the flood could escape the arrays the forerunner's invited them to a treaty conference on the moved-closer zeta halo
Then shoved them all into the cylixes
Kinda rude tbh
“Oh yeah congrats on surviving a universal genocide, check out this cool floaty space bed”
Haha yeah that's it
Do elites have genitalia?
Presumably
AFAIK they're never described
Sangheili lay eggs is all I can remember if it lol
Lay eggs… The males or female ?
They have genitalia, they just aren't outside their bodies
The females
I hadn't really thought about it but I guess some kinda shark arrangement, where it all tucks away haha
It’s just biology. They’re alien after all. I suppose they’re sort of human in how they reproduce

Nah I remember hearing that they have cloacae
Why do you need to know this 🤔@lyric cobalt
Every time I come back to this channel there’s been at-least 1 person asking about genitalia in some shape or form.
I’m curious if it was ever established how elites reproduce
Not birds, but reptiles definitely.
They're practically lizards
Oop got a warning for saying the s word
For simplicity sake
Their evolutionary counterparts would be lizards sure, but desert lizards. After all, Sanghelios is primarily a harsh desert like planet with caverns and caves.
But to classify them actually as lizards, it’s too simple. They’re depicted as a very unique and resilient race.
Well what other real world example are you going to find
The analogy of lizards serves its purpose in illustrating the reproductive process
Oh you’re still on about reproducing
Well that's what the whole conversation was discussing, so yes
Otherwise you would be correct
Sure
Reproduction varies a lot between reptiles anyway so it's not super helpful haha

Wort wort wort
I see

i would say the closest comparison to Elites would be monitor lizards
both live in hot habitats
both are fast for their size
both lay eggs and are carnivores
Elites are like turtles 🤔🤔
nah I wouldn't put them very similar at all, closer to velociraptors or something than any modern reptiles
nah the jackals are more like velociraptors if anything
kinda like a strange mix of velociraptor and bird
elites really don't have a good parallel haha
monitor lizards breathe with their neck muscles they're not much like an elite
look i just say monitors were the closest comparison not a perfect one lol
balls
wish theyd done more with escharum
i agree
escharum served in HW2 he needed to die he seen too much
escharum is a boomer
he didnt fight chief back then but he called himself the strongest like bruh 💀
i wonder who'll control the banished now
no
probably another chieftain
like the grunt comms officer says
is let volir still kickin? or did he die
think hes alive
hes not really mentionned
but also i think the banished are gonna stick to brute leaders
actually i forgot that campaign spoilers ||atriox is still alive||
yeah but ||he seems disconnected from the rest of the banished ( legendary dialogue), if not then he'd 100% be leader||
||i hope he comes back and is like "im back" because him just abandoning the banished seems so out of character||
very true
||maybe he could be a boss fight for once||
i mean there wasnt much more they could do with him
he was 90 years old, with the average lifespan of brutes being 80 years
Mister Chief of course
oh yes
mister chief will rule the planet
and the world and everything
The monologuing is annoying but I started to like him more when bits of his actual character shone through
There was one audio log where he talks about Doisac I think that was actually kinda touching
He did have a rather unique view, seeing as he was an adult even by the time the Covenant found Doisac
We've only had that two other times. And he does seem to care about his people
I didn’t like Jega that much but Escharum’s relationship with him was really cool too, we haven’t seen an elite and a brute interact with respect like that in the games
I wonder if it wasn’t just the fact that he was dying that made him want to go out, but rather how he saw his own race pushed to near extinction now too that’s pushed him to want to die and to fire the ring
||Atriox is still alive,so||

Oh,sorry
That would never happen
Wouldnt it have been funny if Vale mentioned the time she helped save the galaxy from being wiped out in response to Cortana bragging about "her spartans"
Which time
The time she helped stop the Ark monitor from triggering the arrays in response to the Ark almost getting destroyed. It happened in Hunters in the Dark
Tbf the spartan II’s have stopped the array from being fired multiple times
really just chief
Still was Cortana’s Spartans
That was the thing that bothered me about her speech. Didnt she only interact with the other spartan 2s on the way back to earth from the first Halo? It seems odd she's so attached to them. Also on the matter of chief he stopped them from firing twice i think
Tbf twice is I think the highest amount so far I the series, tied with the Arbiter there
So is earth still a thing or did chief saying, "All of it" when weapon asked about earth confirm that cortana glassed Earth.
She is made from Halseys brain
The Covenat doesnt accept humans
Because the forerruners did choose the humans as their sucessors, but the covenant dont accept this,so they want to exterminate the humans
Only the prophets even knew that
The rest of the covenant were told it was because humans didn’t worship the forerunners
The story of yiyap the grunt is quite sad
And its strange because other races were heretics but also entered the covenant
He went in hiding with a spec ops elite and while the spec ops elite was sent to kill the demon yiyap loaded a ghost with a spare methane tank and a days worth of food onto a ghost and drove into the sunset away from the pillar of autumn and for the first time he felt true happiness, unfortunately it would be his last a few minutes later when the pillar of autumn blew up
Yayap*
Yeah
They were sent into hiding cause the council would kill them if they failed to kill the chief twice so they changed their names
well they both went to the nipple academy
If there were only 18 arbiters then why are there so many caskets in the mausoleum of the arbiter
...Where'd you get that there were only 18 Arbiters?
its probably reasonable to assume that many of those caskets are arbiters that predate the covenant
