The grave-mind and precursors are pretty different. The precursors look pretty insect or crab like with multiple limbs and their power seems to be beyond the grasp of even forerunner under standing. The flood although strong could never reach the power of the meta physical precursors

That was the original plan but either the precursors took a more nihilistic approach to life in the universe after their betrayal or whilst becoming what would eventually be the flood something unforeseen happened and the flood are a literal corruption of their race.

Well, they didn't originally even know what the real purpose of the Halo Array was.
Everything about the Covenant's religion was based on misinterpretation and mistranslation of what the Forerunners left behind.
The three hierarchs had apparently learned about the truth behind the Forerunners, reclaimers/reclamation, etc. before their rise to power and used it to their advantage.

Bungie always kinda went back and forth on the relationship between Forerunners and humanity, since their original plan was to make them the same species. By Halo 3 they'd largely shifted to making them separate, though.
That line has pretty much been written off as Guilty Spark being a bit off his rocker.

I'm sure Bungie's original intent was for the Cortana in Reach to just be whole entire Cortana because the game in general was meant to overwrite the Fall of Reach novel, but stuff like Halsey's journal included with the LE tried to make the two work together.

Technically the Autumn wouldn't have jumped to Installation 04 without the fragment's data.
Since current canon says that some of the info processed by the fragment helped Cortana translate other info recovered from Sigma Octanus IV into the coordinates for the Halo.

Osiris goes to kamchatka to save Halsey where they see that the promethians have turned in the storm covenant

cut to chief and Blue team who are in orbit near Argent moon a research station which is highly classified but ends up being taken by storm covenant and chief gets sent to destroy it
midway chief gets some weird visions about Cortana and she mentions meridian a planet which got glassed for the most part
progress through mission you decide to blow up the station and right before you leave chief calls in to the infinity because he thinks Cortana is alive but infinity says no and another team is sent to deal with her so they go awol to get Cortana first end of mission 2

cut to meridian you play as blue team to find a guardian, you help some locals who really don't like you against the promethians and also have to arrest blue team pretty much
your enter cave with guardian, have a fight with warden eternal who's really annoying and keeps showing up you also have a cutscene where Locke gets beat up by chief end of mission 3

cut to genesis a forerunner shieldworld where supposedly Cortana is and you hear lot of olly olly oxen free throughout the mission which chief thinks is Cortana later on Cortana actually contacts you and yes she still lives
cut back to Osiris who need to get on a guardian too and Halsey mentions one is not yet active on sanghelios the elite homeworld but they are in the middle of a civil war so you got there but you are there off the record
you help the arbiter with taking down the storm covenant and you also destroy a kraken which is a giant tripod which they put in because why not
complete mission, cut to a cutscene where you talk with arbiter who is giving Locke a peace of his mind when suddenly Cortana interrupts you and she knows about the guardian
cut back to genesis you progress more to see Cortana fight the warden a few more times (fred is hella useless) and you get to see Cortana but full size and really not that goodlooking
she pretty much kidnaps blue team and puts them in a cryptum for however long she would take to police the entire galaxy
because created are supposed to be the mastterrace according to her
if you haven't noticed it yet Cortana really lost it and went nuts
cut back to sanghelios you have to help the elites deal a finishing blow to the storm covenant on the holy city of sunaion

GEN 2 was designed to be easier to manufacture and they focused heavily on that aspect so they were only a small improvement over GEN 1 Mk 6. GEN 3 returns to having more armor coverage to bring a higher level of protection over the GEN 2 armor. GEN 3 also changes the way AI integration works so that a rogue AI can't just turn Spartans into really expensive bricks.

MJOLNIR had protections against AI already. In TFoR they talk about how they couldn't control your suit for you or stop you and whatnot. They just beefed up that aspect.
In Last Light, Fred's armor was infiltrated by a forerunner ancilla and she had a hard time actually taking over any of his systems. Best she could do was interfere with his visor and comms and use him like an antennae.
