@karmic hare Sure thing, so with the 12 minute time limit in general, it really conflicts with the existing standard MLG power weapon and power up times that Hardcore players have been used to since 2010. Whether it's 2v2 or 4v4, the flow of the game and coordinated pushes are determined by those Static Spawn Times. With the game essentially starting 3 minutes late, it throws off the tactics and strategies formulated by well timed, aggressive pushes for the sought out items. It would be like if you started a game of CE Doubles with your timer already at the 3 minute mark. Again, with the score limit being at 25, the matches should go by just as quick.

Now with Construct not being viable for 2s, this seems to be an opinion shared by many of the H3 MLG players that I see on Discord, Twitter, and Twitch. Once a team of two has top map control with Rockets and Sniper it is near impossible to retake that back, even with well placed Nerd nades and/or a Camo guy sneaking up Sword legs. There just isn't a lot of options for the team spawning on the bottom to safely or smartly get back up top at high levels of play. Gold and Purple Lifts are death traps and going up either the back Gold ramp or Sword Legs doesnt give you a powerful enough position to contest. Again this is just the feedback I'm hearing from strong players as well as what I have experienced playing Dubs on Construct. Personally I am not a fan of Amplified as a competitive map but it is the replacement that 2s players have been scrimming/playing customs on since 2009. Amp seems to be more fun for good people to play on as well as more entertaining for the viewer to watch.

I’ve been thinking recently, and while I do like our commentators I still feel that the energy that the CSGO commentators give off a better energy. Maybe it’s just me but even when I go back and watch H3 MLG I feel like there’s more hype. I do hope that ATL H3 gets really hype though, it’ll be great for the series as the whole especially if H6 turns out more like that classic halo gameplay.

H2A isn’t a current competitive title. As for H5 it’s all HCS settings, which means magnum start, different map setup, and radar is ability only instead of movement. Sprinting & thrusting appear on radar, and finally ground pound and Spartan charge are removed.

As for ATL the H3 settings for the 2v2 are I think the same as they were back when MLG used to run it in...2010 or whenever the last h3 MLG event was.

H2A doesn’t have the same feel. They had a tournament for it and it was kinda ok. Button combos don’t work the same so with that it’s just not good enough for pros to want it. Least that’s what I’ve gathered from it. Besides, MCC has a horrible launch so it also contributed to the early death of H2A because no one could play much of it.

H2A is fun, but H2C feels way different.

H2A is closer to H4 than it is to H2, that's why no one participates nor hosts tournaments for the game anymore. There's little offered in H2A to create a meaningful skill gap unlike H2C.

I’m actually rank 15 in H2A and I can confirm it’s not h4. There aren’t loadouts, AR is a weapon on the map, strafe mechanics are just strafe mechanics. Sorry that it’s smooth and pretty unlike H2C which has issues with bullets disappearing. No one really cares about hit markers themselves lol. The game plays super different than h4

Title ranks depend on some much needed context. Are your ranks in regards to the title's compatibility for a quality eSports product? Is it in regards to how good the eSports product was to spectate? Is it in relation to its general multiplayer game-play like customs? In its matchmaking multiplayer game-play? How about its playlist and mode selections? In its campaign game-play including the story? Does it encompass other features too like Forge, File Share, Firefight, Co-op, Split-screen, etc? Are the ranks fairly encompassing all of these aspects together? Or are they more or less superficial?

Yeah that was quite a bit of an upset. Watching Frostys stream they seemed a bit tilted, frosty in particular. A lot of toxic comments here and there while they were playing that you wouldn't normally hear in these types of matches. It's also worth noting that it is online gameplay vs LAN so the connections can be skewed for particular players or teams.

All that aside I think APG is playing some of the best Halo he has ever played. I honestly felt he was a weak link on his team every time I saw him over the last few years but he really proved that wrong the last tournament and this one. I felt the same way about Trippy on Reciprocity, but he made some major plays from the last few games I've watched him in.

CLG skins were also another team that had skins that don't anymore. Just the nature of those skins since part of the money goes go to that organization, if they no longer currently exist in the halo comp scene they won't be there.

Really hoping for some Halo 2 and Halo 3 tournaments in place of the Halo 5. I would really hate to see there be nothing for an entire year. Maybe UGC is going something? Also, that kind of a break is going to break up the entire scene for a bit. Hopefully it will be able to come back strong.

while true, generally speaking legacy games don't hold a large competitive scene when run for a long duration of time. plus there's some hype to rolling out the oldies only every so often for another go

(it also helps that new entry = more media coverage and marketing)

there will always be diehards that play legacy games, but if a franchise releases an entry that players don't like or it begins to stagnate/stop altogether interest overall will wane

#

the only legacy game in esports i know of that still sees considerable growth is Melee, and even that has started to plateau

#

it's also just not in the best interests of a publisher to give a legacy game large prize support or whatever when trying to sell a new entry

To catch up here, the 2k tournaments were weekly tournaments to help teams improve their seeds for upcoming tournaments, so for Atlanta. There is a $2k Prize pool with 1st getting $1.5k and 2nd getting $500. First place would also get 2000 pro points. Teams that place in the top 32 in the 2ks would pick up points with the minimum being 200 earned from getting T32. Hope this helps

But majority of the smaller LANs are just straight double elim.
