That way stuff like the vision Chief has of Cortana could still happen

The Spirit model is a new asset because they needed to make a new one and there isn't a version of the asset which is of the quality they'd need outside of Halo 5's, which I know for a fact people would complain about if they used that one. The Grunts aren't from Halo 4 in CEV, they're Infinite's Grunt models. Which I recall distinctly telling you before
