the argument for burnie is interesting to me purely because 1) he wasn't really interested in giving rvb much of a story until closer to the freelancer saga (which i believe was also the part where he gave other people stronger writing roles) and 2) he didnt want to do any of it anymore. that's why he walked away in the first place. didnt want to manage what RT had become, didnt want to be that involved in the writing of its fictional works, etc.

i'll admit i havent really caught up with what's going on with him and RT since he bought it back, though

He's been very quiet about this new iteration of RT outside of wanting to focus on the community aspect more, since that was such a large part of what led to stuff like RTX happening

Like, I doubt we'll be seeing a continuation of Red Vs Blue, I think that it's kinda ran its course. And we know that RT's biggest IP is no longer theirs, since they sold RWBY to Vis Media back in 2024

So I believe that leaves them with Camp Camp, genLOCK and a few other IPs which nobody wanted to buy

i had a feeling that's the way it was going. i think that's a good plan for it, honestly. RT could only keep operating the way it had been for so long, and its content never really fit with a "big name" company. still had a very close knit, small feel to its productions right up until the end imo. it either needed to embrace being a media corporation (and shift in nature, losing diehard fans), thin itself out to get back to its roots a bit more (financially a losing battle), or change stance completely. becoming a community-oriented platform of sorts i think works really well in its favour, speaking to its legacy alone

And there's some stuff I heard about regarding how leadership was at RT in its final few years thanks to a former friend (I don't know how much I can share since I don't know what is and isn't public knowledge) but it's clear that at the least, the animators, writers, etc were still really passionate about making the shows, regardless of any hurdles thrown their way

Heck, I still see people who worked on RWBY talk about how they'd love to return to that show

other than discussions i'm not starting here, i think one of its biggest issues was failing to adapt by holding onto that "six guys in a garage" energy for so long, while pretending that they weren't as large as they were. the phrase "too big for your britches" comes to mind. if you have that kind of business model, you really gotta live within your means, so to speak.

One of the other current Halo issues I have, is regardless of how much people disliked Halo 5, that it seems like most of Halo 5s presence was retconned to a point where its noticeably disappointing.
