I really dislike the running feature in gta and red dead. Hear me out .

If you just move the joystick in gta or red dead. You walk. But if you actually want to run . You have to constantly press the a button. Yeah it seems cool that you can run. But all that work.

Everyone wants to go as fast as they can.

I remember in rd1 you have constantly press a to run.

You want to go as fast as you can on any game. As fast as you can on whatever game you play. But look at all that work. Its much better to only need to move the joystick

With other weapons which were duel wieldable, there was at least the idea of mixing and matching weapons to either double the output of damage, so stuff like pairing up the SMG with a Plasma Pistol to strip shields and health quickly or carrying two Plasma Rifles to unleash a hail of Plasma at enemies faster than you could with only one Plasma Rifle. It's just the execution in Halo 2 led to the Needler being really annoying to deal with in PvP since you had so many needles coming at you and you kinda had no advantage when fighting against someone duel wielding SMGs while you only had one. Halo 3 tried to fix things by reducing the damage weapons do when duel wielded (And making the Needler impossible to duel wield) but that just meant it wasn't worth doing it most the time

Weight isn't the only factor to consider. Practicality is one also. And well, if we could just duel wield any weapon, balancing really would be all over the place, which is the primary factor when it comes to the gameplay of Halo. Last thing you want is an extremely poorly balanced game

I love the games for what they are, but people pretending they were deep character pieces is kind of a joke. The arbiter is the only one with a full arc in the first three games. Cortana is probably second in terms of development and that is mostly just setting up that she will go a bit nuts (H3 Cortana as a level may be terrible to play, but it is fantastic storytelling.)

H4 and Infinite (and to a much lesser degree h5) focused on character, but that was mostly the leads I.E. Cortana, Chief, and Joyeuse with the pilot getting some character moments that are extremely rare for the series as a whole.
