Like, in my rewrite of Dooku I have in my head, I like the idea that he does actually want to use his wealth from his family to help people, but because of the tensions between the CIS and Republic, he's forced to dedicate funds to fighting against the Clone Army which the Republic suddenly had. Which could then in turn become one of his talking points for recruiting people to the CIS because why does the Republic suddenly have an army which would've taken 10 years at least to grow if they didn't have less than noble intentions? Obviously we know why the Clone Army exists, but not everyone in universe does
