I don't think there's really a defining 'Halo-ness' about guns as Halo is very much a franchise where people formed a mistaken origin pattern around guns being based off Halo rather than the other way around.

For example, this is what the Halo Sniper Rifle is based off of.

The denel is the most obvious inspiration, but you can see elements of other irl weapons throughout the franchise

Human weapons in Halo are largely based off of what was 'in vogue' at the time the gun was introduced to the respective Halo game. Hence why newer Halo rifles tend to be festooned with picatinny rails.

In Battletech terms, this means it's harder and more expensive to consistently get reloads for gauss infantry weapons.

Vale is not a survivor. That's Tanaka's bag. Vale was a coddled and sheltered child who drifted in space under more benevolent conditions under UNSC control, not seeing much death or conflict in her life as she became an intelligence scion.

Her position as a Spartan is one of an outlier; She is well-educated, with a strong appreciation for history and gushes about it when Osiris romps through Sanghelios; Taking into account the social connotations of the environment. However, her blind spot is explicitly the status of the 'human'. As upper-crust as it gets by Spartan standards, she is unlearned in the life of Colonials; Her ignorance and innocense of the plight of glassing survivors pisses off Buck and Tanaka.

She is a historian and linguist at heart, and has an appetite for 'soft' sciences, but struggles with practicality.

If that's where Halo CE got it's inspiration from, then it's box art would be the culmination of that. Meaning that being the only thing that the halo infinite devs had to go off of with no prior knowledge of any other sci-fi media, they nailed it peak to that they were destined to do and could never make something greater.
