Same reason Bayonets aren’t used today. Once you get your weapon stuck in something, it can be hard to get it out/it could damage the weapon/a knife connected to a large rifle is clunky and doesn’t afford a lot of flexibility in close quarters.

Lots of historical reasons for why we don’t see them anymore in combat.

As for Spartans? They have little tactical knives like we saw in Reach which show how much easier it is to kill a target up close when you’ve got a bladed weapon that is only a foot or so long

I think the story was caught between a rock and a hard place. They had to figure out how to get out of the hole H5 dug the narrative into while setting up a new direction for the series to go in.

It was rough but I think halo is better for it. Now, halo is in a strong narrative position. You’ve got a good cast of characters (The Pilot, the Weapon, Chief back to his old self) a mystery about how the rest of the UNSC is doing and then the impending threat of Atriox and the Endless.

Plenty of opportunity for the series to go in fun, action packed directions again instead of being stuck with Cortana and Master Chief melodrama or “exploring chief’s humanity” for the 4th or 5th time in a row

I'm so confused with this fanbase

For the longest time, I always thought the Halo fanbase was alright about many things with Halo currently, but I am just disappointed with the lack of content with Infinite, that dumb store and how broken the engine is. But lately, I see a lot of people saying to me that Halo is dead, the IP is dead now, the current Halo lore is bad, and it will lead the franchise to its death, there's no hope for Halo, and some say Halo should just end and let it be the end of it... But at the same time, people say to me that Halo is fine, Halo Infinite's story is good or alright and wants a good sequel, Infinite's MP is not dead and so on and so forth. Things like this always confuse me. Though people don't mind the story and lore of Halo, currently, half of the fan base is saying it's terrible, and the other half is saying it's good.

So, is this franchise dead or not?

Before people say anyone, I'm not a 343 shill. I just like Halo for Halo. I love Halo 3, and out of all of the 343 games, Infinite felt the closest thing to a modern classic Halo game that is good, and I thought we were all in the game boat.

It deviated from classic halo totally undid what halo 4 set up plotwise by bringing back cortana as a villain (dumb move from 343). I know that a lot of people werent a fan of the armor design for chief, spartan locke, and the copy paste boss fights, (also teams osiris didnt seem to bring that much interest?). At the end of the day yes it is a halo game and I enjoyed the gameplay for the most part but it is the most flawed of them all falling short in lots of areas.

Lot of infinites music is kinda like remastered versions of musical motifs that were found in the other games, but theres also new motifs like 117 found in 4-5 and infinite has some new banished themes
