HMMR absolutely does do this.
It's less lenient, with fewer tiers to place players.
It grabs teammates for you to specifically lose, than grabs opponents to ensure you lose too.

The team assignment of HMMR of say the top 8 players, will go,
team1= 1, 8, 7, 6
team2= 2, 5, 4, 3.
Or something relatively similar to this scheme.

MintBlitz has been documenting this with others on YouTube for the better part of three years now. The SBMM of this game is intended to keep you playing, not intended to make games feel enjoyable. It's a miserable experience

I actually think halo infinite (BTB) lobbies are pretty balanced, theres always the top half of dudes going 20 and 10 for example, and then theres always the stinkers in the bottom half with 5 kills or even zero, and its always the same case on both teams

it's not about per-match basis.
It's the cadence. Play 5 matches, and it places you, then you get hardstuck at "arbitrary value x" and the system will give you significantly higher and lower level players to play against. However, the complaints from him and others about how the algorithm works, and that it seems to have some pretty strange flaws that FEEL like it forces you to be at a 50/50 win rate; the amount of people that throw games to play something that feels more balanced; and the weird thing where the game feels like it makes you lose to keep you playing much like a slot machine; all of these opinions are not something indicative of a problem with the current setup? We've seen an indirect acknowledgement of these critiques with the lessening of the BTB SBMM.
Does that not validate the complaints at least a little for there to be a second pass and revision made to the system? At least taken as a point of feedback? Is it really worth just ignoring them and saying "misinformation"?

Arena modes feel like a casino in the way that you don't know where the exit is inside a casino.
Idk how to put it to words, but when I see MintBlitz put up vids that align somewhat with what I experience in the game, I definitely form a bias.

The game feels like there's a cadence, or not enough iterations on the "logarithmic curves" that squeeze you into a set parameter of skill assessment. It doesn't present enoug chances. I understand it's proprietary technology, so asking for transparency is understandably goofy. It's as though I can feel the game make the decision. Much like bad CGI vs good CGI, my biggest point of feedback would be if it is imperceptable, then you have done it successfully. To me, it's very perceptable.

Not gonna argue the ontological parts of what the algorithm is or isn't, based on tweets, or misinformation - again, proprietary stuff probably and not worth it.

Well, the 60kmph rating was also matched by Spartan Stone, IIRC.

The reason I assume faster is because Hermes is not a II specific thing, and I kinda figure that your 'average' is lower for IVs, but your 'high' marks likely equal or even slightly exceed the average II.

Like-it's perfectly possible for Kovan to be a better Sniper than Chief, but still be a worse one than Linda. It's possible for a IV to sprint faster than Fred, but slightly slower than Kelly. Capiche?

I am really not a fan of the Fuelrod SPNKR. Why didn't they just add the fuelrod cannon? I know it would take more effort and time but I would much rather have them release updates less often than restrict the content in the update. They better not keep up with this garbage.

Same as how the MA5K has the same animations as the MA40 (though technically that SHOULD be the case the MA5K was always a carbine)

Bannerman Field Weapon Research log, Entry 3 - Golden Eagle AR

Bannerman here, reporting some cool kit, and maybe an interesting history lesson for how these things end up where they are.

Alright, so you know how a few years ago-back in 2549, I think-there was some contest for a 'UEG Patriot decoration' for the MA-series. It was designed in order to drum up support for the HCW as something of an outer colony 'crowdfunding' program for making up the bulk of supplies lost due to Covenant incursions and paying for refugee services. Didn't actually ultimately end up making much-it was a money laundering program. Anyways, they actually did make a few hundred of these 'golden eagles', mostly out of coated low-quality metal that just looked like gold. Some kid won a contest, in order to get this design okayed.

So this one, serial number 164, popped up in my inventory after a recent crash and grab on an Innie compound. It's a nice story-didn't expect someone to haul off with a Liang Dortmund Mantis and try to tangle with a Spartan with construction claws, remind me to tell you about it over a cup of something strong next time I make it to AJJAMs. But I'm going to level with you, A, I am 100% keeping this thing. Filled out my form for trophies and anything. I'll send over the 3d scans so that you can implement it into the sims first thing tomorrow morning, though-not sure why your Spartans-to-be might want it, though. Maybe you should give it to them as a graduation honor?

Back to this 'golden eagle' and its history though-this one got shipped out to Reach about a decade back, and ended up as a sort of showpiece for one Colonel Michigan. Yes, that Colonel Michigan. Apparently one of his troops fished it from the wreckage of the old Colonel's crashed Pelican in the fighting and sold it on the grey market, and it got snagged by an Innie Captain for a pittance back in 2555. Said Innie Captain kept it on his rifle and spray painted it red (Why is it always red with these guys?), which I've since cleaned off. I already rigged up a printed scaffolding and I'm going to put it on display. Something with this sort of history needs to be kept off the battlefield.

Bannerman Field Weapon Research log, Entry 2 - Vicious SPNKr

I'll be frank-The Banished confuse the hell out of me sometimes. How ONI managed to miss a massive gathering of red-and-black clad BK's for decades, especially one who hates the Covenant as much as we did, is beyond me. But what confuses me more is their approach to 'modifying' our weapons systems. The particularly 'inspired' name of this thing was given by one of the ONI agents, though I can't say I really like it very much.

Today's subject is set of custom SPNKr launchers I pilfered from the armory of a Frigate we recently boarded. The base launching plaform's furniture isn't modified too heavily-in typical brute fashion they covered every surface they could in leather that I don't want to know the source of. They ripped off the bottom plate and filled in the internals with some extra electronics and Banished-made batteries that look like they're made to hook up with the new scope package they mounted to it, as well as some extra parts to the frame that holds the magazine itself-from the mounting placement, it seems to be extra shock-proofing. Leave it to the Kongs to make an explosive launcher into a glorified bat. They even mounted a damn bayonet to the thing, because that's just how Brutes are. I'm not even really sure why one would ever need to stab someone with a launcher you're supposed to shoot and scoot with, but judging by the blood I've cleaned off, it seems at least one of those guys succeeded in killing something with that blade.

In addition to the launchers, the Banished have apparently started experimenting with more human-style explosive ordinance. A bit more of their favorite chemical mix than ours, I'd say, and they apparently implemented the materials they use for spike grenades in this thing's munitions and set them to proximity airburst. Doesn't pop tanks anymore, but presumably nasty as hell on infantry. We might benefit from taking a further look on this concept.

having a headshot multiplier makes the kill luck based when you could be shooting the same area but the bloom was lucky enough to give one of you the headshot for the kill

and it was honestly easy to hit shots with the ar from a decent distance away

way easier than the commando for the majority of people

ah so ur point was that luck can help get a quick kill at range. that is true, but relying on luck to get midrange kills with an AR has always been a losing strategy when BRs and commandos are on the field, so i dont think it really mattered balancewise
