Agreed, there's actually a lot of criticism to Halo that there's too much focus (and arguably worship) on the superhero Spartan characters and not the wider expanse of the universe, so moments that are more down-to-earth are always more enjoyable.

Here's a fun fact - when the Master Chief Collection was brought to the PC, some of the gametypes were retained from the Xbox 360 days in the files. So you can obtain and play legitimately the gametypes Bungie used to promote Halo 3 ODST, with modified stats and no shields (ironic considering ODST had faux shields).
Which also means you can combine that with the settings from Recon Slayer that 343 added when Halo 3: ODST was put on PC. Kinda poetic.

I remember that when I played online, I only used the SMG and I tried attempting to win with it.
And in the games with no SMG, I used the Assault Rifle.
