halo 5 is around the same time when xbox decided to go PC cross platform. All ports at the time are badly done. Forza, Gears UE, and a few others. but I remember those. So I'm guessing Halo 5 fell through.

It's not worth xbox doing the ports again or fixing the games it seems. All the Xbox games after that seem to have PC development in mind first with Xbox. Not an after thought.

My guess is If Halo 5 has a chance at PC, it will probably be some anniversary event where they remaster it and do a clean good quality port to make it worth it.

From what I reckon, it's down to timing and the unfortunate launch of MCC. If it had launched the way it intend, I'd bet MCC development would have taken a back seat to Halo 5, while Infinite was being worked on. They chose MCC and pushed 5 to sustain, which was honestly the better choice long term

I’m not sure how much of a fast track H5: Forge would be for a greater port, but it’s something at least.
Lot of work needs done in terms of performance scaling, interpolation, FOV and potentially viewmodel options, plus I’d imagine you’d want crossplay as well.

That's a rather ignorant point of view and an opinion copy pasta from grifter youtubers.

It's an Xbox decision not a 343 decision the way things have gone. If you look at other franchises such as Gears of War which has followed a similar track of rushed / incomplete releases you will see E-Day has no deadline and the team were given the choice of what game they wanted to make, not a straight Gears 6 release. Bethesda's botch release of Redfall is another example. So it seems for now Xbox executives may have learnt their lesson to let these studios cook.

I'm still skeptical until we see product finally delivered as proof of redemption.

i just crashed again. So annoying without the rejoin feature man. How can they have "HCS" when the actual regular matchmaking experience in this game is a complete joke in comparison to other pro scenes.

343 had the chance to actually add the right comp features to infinite. Making it something in line with CSGO and it would have been taken more seriously. The intent of HCS is to advertise the ranked play of the game yet you cannot region select, you cannot rejoin matches, you cannot see the connection of other players to the servers, the comp scene was divided up among mnk and controller and then merged... like man what happened. Where's the match rejoin feature 😭

R6 has a rather embaressing matchmaking system for their ranked TBH. It's the microsoft "true skill" system that publishers adopt. There's a good video by the lead on Xdefiant that explains all this in a video.

High sens on MnK is just terrible 9/10 times, since it throws your aim way off, so a controller-feeling sens (or a bit higher) for MnK is actually best imo

where as R6 you can complete and utter free frange of your settings but HI is limited

i just think it's crazy (and this is why it must just be a money laundering scheme or insane tax write off) that they POUR money into HCS so much but there's still issues with servers, netcode, etc... then the whole experience they advertise, the matchmaking ranked arena mode, is nowhere near up to scratch to what other leading fps ranked games have.

If you want me to take it seriously, like the name ranked implies, then you need to make sure the infrastructure to play a truly competitive game is fully there. Instead its a sham that just ranks people with games to get their time sucked out of them and keep them on the game in hopes they spend money on the shop. It's the illusion of a good ranked experience when it isn't actually anything like that at all.

Take five minutes of trying to start, quit, and check player stats, check the options available to the game mode and matchmaking, check how other players are connected, check the ranks of teammates during the game... i could go on... spend FIVE MINUTES trying CSGO and fiddling with the menus and you have your template for what people EXPECT of a competitive ranked shooter that is worthy of being in the running for the title of 'the largest esport'. Rant over lol
