Promethean Knights are basically shackled and are full of mindless rage. For the most part.

So when left to their own devices they're basically stuck to stew in impotent rage.

I wish that we saw more of it, but Knights are really only ever seen 'on the job'.

That said, they're just hulls. Getting composed doesn't make you into a Promethean Knight; It just makes you something that can be put into a Promethean Knight. Humanity's smart AI is, technically, a primitive and specialized version of composing something so long as you believe essence ends at the brain.

For your personal character's abilities and movement, I got more than I expected. It pushed you hard to feel like a Spartan, and the balance was built around the Halo standby of precisions, but not far enough to punish you for not using BRs or DMRs.

The boss fight was 'repetitive' but they were at least a separate type of enemy rather than stronger versions of normal enemies. While two bosses exist in Infinite, neither particularly push you to utilize the sandbox as much as Warden Eternal did.

Anyone who expects teammates to be valuable in a Halo game, especially on Heroic or Legendary, has extremely questionable judgement. There's a reason Noble Team is memed on.

I think Osiris and Locke are cool. Hell, Tanaka's my favorite Spartan. A lot of their dialogue is unfortunately locked behind being slow in levels where you should be fast.

I didn't mind it when I first played it. I was initially only really irked by how they dumped 5's plot off a cliff in an incredibly unsatisfying way.

Then I thought about it more, and the more I thought about it the more its decisions pissed me off because they didn't fit quite right together, and generally felt more as face-saving than genuine. It's passable gameplay wise, and it's certainly a pretty face. But the guts don't live up to that standard, and I think of it as by far the weakest story 343's ever had by a long shot.

The problem with the teammates is that they were worked in a way in which they were meant to be useful. If you got downed on even normal, you'd have to watch them come by one by one and get slaughtered till you died. I would have much preferred that they functioned the same as reach, used just for story and mood. Reach is also a much older game haha.

I personally found that the infinite bosses did! There was a lot more scavenging, thought on approach, verticality etc. (the final boss was a bit eh for sure though).

The problem with Osiris is that they are shoved in front of you and you are expected to care - the only one I could care about was Buck, and that's cause he had development. The same thing with Blue Team - such a mediocre introduction of the characters.

I have an incredibly large distrust and dislike for 'rogue superhero' films. They're almost always rote plots with flimsy justifications, with an extreme emphasis on hero worship. Lots of "He's just that good", which I hate as a plot point.

In Halo 2, Arbiter stopped the rings from going off, and Chief got aboard the Keyship so they can still mess with Truth's plans, but the Gravemind is still out and about and has a huge flood hive under his control now that he can do anything he wants with.

In Halo 5, Osiris kept Blue Team out of Cortana's clutches and the Infinity escaped Cortana's grasp just as well so they can still do anything about what she does, but Cortana is still out and about and has a huge space owl fleet under her control that she can do anything she wants with.

Narratively, these are both classic cliffhanger setups, and neither are happy endings.

Cortana acts the way she does because she suffered, she does what she does because she died, she acts the way she does because she saw everyone she ever loved or cared about go through hell and back, she acts the way she does because she knows there's a better way than fighting and killing and dying like the Covenant, the Flood, and the Didact wanted.

Her entire enforcement of the Mantle was intended as an action of love and sacrifice, not a cudgel to beat the galaxy into following the whims of a dictator, but people think it's narratively meant to be the latter when it's clearly the former.

Which is entirely within Cortana's MO.
